yup, that and 10000 RPM or solid state hard drive. Most laptops have only 5200 RPM drives, so putting constant pressure to stream 24/96 wavs - that's too much risking during live sets - if you ask me.

and what's the point anyway? the difference is only noticeable in consumer sound-systems or in studio, not at the venue installations where everything is just too loud to notice little nuances of a sound. it's not like people are going to notice and judge how bright your hi-hats are, and what sort of phaser you've added to them...

doing production in 24 bit is entire different case and i am all up for it. but DJing with 24 bit wavs (not internal 24 bit processing) i simply no see point in that - except well driving my laptop to grave at accelerated pace.           www.venomous2.com

being a DJ already implies being an artist. it all comes down to skill level and techniques. and why DJ on a lappy? well instead of carrying at least seven full crates of vinyl records to a gig (as i have done back in a day), all i have to take now - is lappy, four control vinyls, 2 control CD's (just in case), external backup harddrive and serato interface... basically i get to perform on a medium i love the most (vinyl) and carry my entire music library with me - all in a light backpack...

i apologize if i sounded as if i am endorsing serato.

why if I dont care?

one of the biggest reasons the psy scene fails is the lack of good dj's, all is about boring live acts playing prerecrded sessions, over and over gain.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

one of the biggest reasons the internet fails is because its all about making ridiculously wide-reaching generalizations, over and over again.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

No worries for sounding like an endorsement for serto, me respectz itz idea... Some feel it puts an intellectual handicap dealing in feelin the dance step...

The roll of a Dj? A few terms included channels of high energy, inspiration into creativity, as a service provider of the Goa dance... very secure with self in skill department without laptop...

DN-S3700, fits into a backpack as well, and, a 16gig thumb-drive on a key chain works, if light backpack is a requirement, half a hand full of Cd's if ya want... If meez need more decks or teck gear, just use what's on site...

Fully willing to crossover to laptops if anything evolutionary comes from it as a dj skill...

Well, no. I tried offering 24-bit WAVs a little while ago but no one seemed interested and it was a lot of extra work so I canned the initiative.

oh! Lol I was just going through my ekto downloads and was trying to find out the bitrate but couldn't...so hopped on a random ekto release and saw a link for 24 bit WAV, an assumed all the WAVs were 24 bit.

Interesting - doesn't seem like it really matters anyways though, as you've pointed out.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

no offense but i'll need more than one 16gig thumbdrive (about 150 of them to be precise and at least 10 usb connectors). and a "light backpack" is not a requirement, but rather a point of comfort i was implying to... nowadays there is no need to put yourself through tiresome physical workout routine by carrying tones of records just to prove that you or anyone's a dj.

so we are on the same page: maybe some dj's got used to playing one hour gig, with just handful of CD's or 16gig thumbdrive. whatever - to each its own, but i did few residencies (all night long regular gigs) where handful of anything or 16 gigs of thumbs wouldn't and won't just cut.

that be your choice. but check youtube vids, perhaps digital DJ-ing isn't challenging enough for you...

Why so much music? How long is a standard Dj set where your from?

No offense but i rather have someone who is a laptop dj help than seek videos on my own, i'm just askin, can you help or not? I'm neew around here, could use more emotion for direction about a dj and software dj...Yes, i'm aware there is a difference in tools, i can see dat without asking anything..

Yes!!! We are on the same page, true dAT... I was feeling more like, maybe our pages high octave's in Seas have overshadowed something, like, create a new definition DAT is excepted per se someone who has never heard of psytrance.. The rolls of a Dj, as in terms, isn't lining up.. We take on the the StaNdardS terms then, well, you know..

some things will never change: this endless and in my opinion pointless discussion of cdj vs software, and actually why vs? is it a race a fight or whatsoever? enjoy: your time mixing, your time dancing, all the rest is meaningless

sorry for posting such a sterile and almost useless post , nothing more than a provocation ;-)
