i see labels and artists moaning about mp3, but when i go the that "miserable" TOP 10 isratrance section, that nowadays IS ruled mainly but labels and artists, (which is no top 10 at all, just some djs, artists, and labels fighting for who has the moooost unreleased tracks), i don´t see them promoting realeased tracks!!! i guess their opinion is important for who wants to buy a cd. and when that someone gets there the only tracks they find are the ones NOT AVAILIABLE YETTT !!!
soooo, if unreleased tracks and compilations arive first in p2p than to any store, thats what people look for, and when the tracks are actually released, everyone already has them!!! sooo i think that by some sort of point of view, once again we can blame artists and labels for incentivating people to get unreleased tracks ILIGALLY!!! they are the ones who are killin themselfves!!!
does this make any sense to any of you guys, or is it just my imagination...

Can i please say something...
Don't know if it will make any sense but anyway...

I think that one of the reasons why people buy MP3s is beacause they don't want to spend maybe $10 or whatever at one shot just for a couple of tracks on the CD. They think it does not make any sense to buy a CD just for a couple of tracks.

Why don't labels start to sell MP3s as well????? Put it up on your website! Give people a chance to buy the only track they want! I don't know how well itunes or the other players do but it can't be that bad.

Also, by doing this maybe one day the labels could save money on CDs, CD covers, Prints, packaging, etc etc. Its going to be slow process but if we the consumers are not given a chance in the first place, how can anyone if its a bad thing or a good thing.

I hope i made some sense.

Peace.           Rather than feeling that you're about to have the rug pulled from under you, let me teach you how to dance on a flying carpet

the subject is simple.go 2 party, hear the tune, ask our mates or the dj(u know, xcuse meeeeeeeeee whaaaaaaat isssssss thaaaaaaatttt?:) ) ,go to psyshop, listen : good music we buy,bad music we don't buy.mp3's are not a threat to nobody.so produce good music.

It would be nice if you manage to live out live p.as and dj sets and travel the world and quite a few do but it in my opinion the best albums came from artists who were doing it as a hobby or as a part time cause there was no money involved while they were producing.

Since you run a label you should maybe consider your views a bit more if you want to keep up with reality instead of complaining about bad sales due to Mp3.

Sometimes I just get tired of these complety unfounded arguments about how Mp3 affect music sales. There is simply no serious research proving that as a fact.

If you are serious about staying in business then splash out some cash on forresters report about the research they done into the subject.
http://www.forrester.com/ER/Research/Report/Summary/0,1338,14854,FF.html
They are generally considered one of the top researchers into economical issues and should have a clue what they talk about.

Of course their research are mostly applicable to mainstream music.
Trance happen to be less popular than 10 yrs ago, thats probably why sales in this scene has dropped by more like 90% than 10% as the case with mainstream.
Combined with the increased amount of labels and releases I think anyone can get the picture that Mp3's is not neccessarily the reason why sales is bad.

Conducting the business they way I do I have the advantage of actually being able to see the effects of what happens when a releases get in the hands of the "Mp3 maffia".
Although I don't sell much at all, I all of a sudden noticed a dramatic increase in visitors to my site and sales going up by about 400% when MYCEL finally decided to put out my first compilation.
Should I be pissed off with them?

Sorry for the off-topic and repeating an old discussion, but I just get enough of the BS sometimes.

post worth reading dude!
makes yer arguement heavy!!

even though there are maybe 1000 artistes..
