what i do think is silly is all these radio hits that are playing on those emotions of lost love and what not...
if its well done and have some soul it can work, otherwise if its too cliche i just think its silly...

Novices are cool, Just the party organisers and labels should filter them out of shows and records.

bukboy - okej i see well then all is good!
just wanted to hear that you love good psy
I think Party orgz and record labels should filter out what they dont like. I mean we cant demand them to be some supergroup that has excellent musical skills who knows how to pleace us all... thats a pretty big request. I think there are enough that make a pretty good job

organizers and labels dont like to take risks when $$$ is on the line, so they usually (try) to stick with what they know will make a good party or record. unfortunately if its not containing the 'good stuff', that is subjective to the listener.
ideally organizers and labels would follow this simple formula:
60% safe tried and true stuff from reliable artists that they know will draw a crowd or sell the record, in the genre or feel that you want to promote
20% new artist. no ones heard before but may have potential, no way to find out unless tried
10% off-style. something a little bit different maybe from new or established artists, in a little of a different vein
5% total experimental. may not float, but also could be mind bending
5% complete insane maniac. the croutons. forget the worries, people want to see something different, let freaks get their groove on
unfortunately, it seesm everyone wants to stay totally safe or 100% pure insane, and the variation is lost, where this is really the key to a good party/record

daleks - Thankyou. Great point. How would it be possible to know whether an album or party is of the 100% insane variety (or just the important 6 hours of the night when I get sleepy) so everyone can know they're in for terrible psy and AVOID? |

I usually can tell by the organizer, but for albums, I dont know.. maybe we can make a 100% Insane Review board or something, and give unbiased ratings to CDs.. actually that would be a cool idea, kind of like a brain trust for quality..
come up with a business model, and i'll help!
