jellyheadz has managed to keep its production top class since it started....
but imo parvati still has the best production....they have a defining style that is pure forest and keeps you grooving through out the night/morning/twilight

i think the russian style in recent years is increasingly becoming too much about BPM...furious' new album and cosmo's last album for example...not withstanding the fact that they are individual styles...but i dont think too dancefloor oriented...

however, in last few years, the greeks have been bringing out some wicked tunes...claw/orestis/dark elf - all top class producers with great innovation...
i think they are the ones to watch out for!!!

I also think that our concept of night time music has changed over the ages, in combination with artists trying for a different sound. You are right one sound will sound really big instead of a whole bunch, but knowing when to use one sound and when to use many is I think one of the things that is underrated when people start making this music. Many times I'll be writing a tune and I think it'll need one more layer. So when I do it, something else gets pushed out of the way... so it really depends on the circumstance, and in the end there's a lot of really good guys out here, and as long as they keep at it, their production will get better.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

many topics highlight the new projetcs etc....but what about the psy institutions that have been producing at the top level for years....very little info/ talk about them....(apart from the usual kdd, psykosky recently, ocelot, penta etc....all extremely talented/ unique artists!!!...that i love)

imho jellyheadz are above most in terms of productions and effectivness in this genre of music....but i see little new artists heading towards that direction...(tightness in basslines, build up, progression, deep psy ambient, hypnotic melodies....jelly style....)...this is not to criticize the newcomers or other artists....just to give more credit to who needs it....

they released few tracks, they did a cd with the same bassline, since 2000 they released an ever evolving array of twisted tracks(i think last release was under many faces with dejan= also extremely twisted well produce music) but the quality is always at the top of the food chain!!
.....but play in very few parties around....why?

so..... i think they really are the best, underground but with quality...unique style!!....what about you...??

(topic made especially in regards of the many comments: night music lacks in quality?!)

Though i agree with you....i have to say that the Mubali set in Boom covered all the areas you are talking about...clean sound, massive bassline, hypnotik but with a sense of construction(build up)...i was really impressed and inspired. I guess is record will be very worthy to check and buy

+100 . I was wondering why not many pointed this out all this while. The idea of night music rite now... (production wise)... is to get it as much as layered as possible. Dont think it shld necessarily be like that.

IMO that lot of layers are getting important if the music is made for listen on psychedelics.

Acidmusic can't have too much layers and twisted levels...

It's only never too much if you can follow everything and all the layers are clear... if they make just a garbled mess, then sure it's psychedelic, but not too intelligent...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
