Hello people 
My question is simple:
Who is the best DJ in the world and WHY(!!)
For me Mr. Richie Hawtin takes the cake for a few reasons...
1. His absolute mixing skills
2. His innovative approach - always pushing the technological boundaries and incorporating new devices and methods (Final Scratch, Traktor etc.)
3. The amazing music he creates
4. The great label he established (Minus)
5. Great PR and concepts behind his and the labels tours/shows (currently "Contakt")

but that is "just" the mixing/beat juggling, i did not ask who is the best scratcher or mixer, i asked who is the best DJ, the complete deal, the full monty, the moon and the stars, the fish and the....you know what i mean....

well...
Jeff Mills is THE PAPA on the scene. The leading artists among the others. on the scene from 1984, more than one label manager, the highest rank DJ / artist.. they guy with lots and lots of releases, dicography one big book long... etc etc...
JAMES ZABIELA.. hah.. the world most innovative DJ / artist.. the legend behind the mixer, the symbol of PIONEER brand... actually..one of the best DECK HANDLER i know..

Nice... It's good to see Turntablelism, I don't just mean scratching and beat juggling, being apart of this topic. Everyone so far mentioned knows how to work their gear to its limits.... Psykovsky seems to be a Dj that has an innovative approach with absolute mad mixing skills in the trance department, even on standard gear.

I am going to say Richie as well. But he can really get on your tits with the clicky techno stuff some times. But when he's in a good mood, he's proper belting it out

ima have to say Digweed for number 1, the man is throwing down these days, and doing it very properly. saw him at a shnazzy shwakky club in Charlotte not long ago and he totally took the place on a ride, not going light for even 1 track! perfect mixes too, he was being filmed and it shown in the club, even watching him mix you couldnt really hear the transitons!
also Slacker outta the UK is amazing! he can dj anything under the sun perfectly!
also KRI outta ASheville NC can throw down.
Brainlizzard rocking 6 decks is pretty unreal too...
and Labyrinth from Pangea!
Qbert, DJ Craze.... so many amazing djs in different ways! hard to say whose the best

she is old school!!
best dj in the world?? we can speak and speak about it..., but what is best? in mixing skills? or good person? or a showman?
my grandma makes really good food with one hand and at the same time she can do amazing scratches with the other... |
