EYB if u think my goal is to bash Mike A, then u have a big mistake. I have him on MSN and can do that in private. What he did is very nice sharing with others, but it doesnt mean it's necessarily the right thing to do, that is all

Yeah dude but one day u will like to go beyond the phat and twisted because u will find that it is damn boring. And then u will need knowledge.           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

Hey Mike,
First of all Thank you so much for the tutorials man!
I (and i think most of us who read you tutorial)really appreciate you taking the time and effort to help us.

Now, i don't understand why everyone is complaining so much. this tutorial is for people who are just starting out. isn't it?
Whats wrong in helping out a beginner?????????

Why are you guys so bitter about someone giving people a little direction? I'm sure when all you Pros started out there was someone who came along and helped you out in some way?!?
I believe that Mike just decided to give us this tutorial because there were like a million posts about basslines. To put that to an end to he CHOSE to write this tutorial.

You want to help, PLEASE OH PLEASE give us your inputs but please don't slag people off and tell them what they can or cannot do. Please!

Yeah and don't worry, just because Mike gave us this tutorial on how to make a Full on Bassline the scene's not going to be flooded with some "Killer Full on" tunes. Most of us realize that there is a Lot lot more to it than just the Kick and Bassline. We will try and work on it.

Again Mike, Thanks for the tutorial!

Peace and Chill out People!

Yeah, Mike, I thank you again. And I'm very angry about the "kings of ignorance" who are afraid of losing their power. As I can see, most beginners where lucky that you showed them how to get a bit more pro sound-tendencies into their tracks.

So why must some better knowing advanced producers destroy these positive vibes? I don't believe that their aim is to save the creativity and individuality of us beginners and of the scene. We are not stupid and we know that we don`t make a pro-track that rocks the people by copying some notes into our sequenzer. But if we like this tutorial it was right.

I think your real motivations may be different. And nobody forces you to listen to our boring sounding tracks that lack any creativity.

BTW: Bach learned to play the piano by copying whole songs!!! What an ignorant human...           www.myspace.com/mentris

Yes u r right, i try to learn all about music, but the point is that i often need it to make tunes i the way i like them. I know about frequencies but i almost every bass kick combination i made is made by hearing not by looking at frequencies.

BTW Fat and twisted music can't get boring for me (at least at the moment i think so).

people, come back down...
both of you are right, every sound engineer is looking after the frequence-semitones but everyone also says, if it sounds good, it sounds good. I also do not agree that avoiding the knowlegde and audiosience is not realy progressive. You need both again: talent and knowlegde. At the end i think, the talent is only 10% percent of your success in making cool music. I used to teach myself with pro-books and stuff, after years of just working out from the thing called `talent`, ignoring the fact that some people know something very interesting. If you would like to do, it may be help you too. maybe not. An Architect has maybe great ideas for streets and houses. But If he do not know anything about stones and materials, it will only be 50%-80% resulting of the vision. On the other side, Marcus from Xdream is well known as an producer who edits his sound against the formulars, we all know the result. but maybe his other crewmembers set him boundaries (hehe, who knows).

Job well done mike.
Every artist has a set of templates, patterns, and designs for constructing their creations. This is one small piece of the puzzle.
Getting people up to speed with a simple pattern can only be a good thing.
OK, the more clued up among us know that bassline is fairly standard, but a beginner doesn't know - how can you compare a beginner to S Posford?
I for one wish I had this info years ago, and wish I had the foresight to share it in such an unambiguous way.

i definitely agree with the speakers before me, i think that everyone with critics should either have constructive criticism or come up with a good manual themselves...

dudes
why all the bad blood?
a guy takes the time and shows you how to do something techincaly. a method. an aproach. nothing more. it has nothing to do with creativity, what you do with it afterwards is totaly up to you.
Heck, I don't even make psytrance anymore and I still enjoyed the tutorial.
Seems like all the puns are coming from people like OOOD who already know how to make basslines like this, and though they diss people for overusing it, people like OOD (and kundara etc) are all part of this same psy scene and have been making these same sounds for years.
So ya, imo - thanks a lot mike, keep it up

Alternately, if you only have an interest in complaining and making fine, cynical distinctions about what is true trance and what is whore trance, if you believe that your contempt for the "full-on" genre makes you a connoisseur of fine trance, well, pipe up and at least be honest about it and admit that your role in life is that of "critic" and not "artist." Because I've never met a successful artist who ruled things out.

Totally with brOd...
