Thanks alot Mike,
haters and jealous---get a live, hehe

btw at which point you sample the Taupro, since it isn't stable at all in midi realm.

I also find it convenient to work with Albino. Very solid timing. I can keep bass in MIDI till the mixdown stage and fool around with it. VB1 is great and solid too.

It really boggles my head when people get upset over the sharing of knowledge.

If someone wants to write music exactly like this, and they enjoy it, why - WHY should we not help them? Because we happen to be tired of it? That's not their problem, that's our own.

And maybe if we give them the answers to make that stereotypical bassline, then maybe they will become bored with it faster than if they had to spend two years learning how to do it. When they become bored, they start experimenting. This way they start experimenting faster.

Cheers Mike, this is the kind of attitude we need more on this forum: open exchange of information and the sharing of experience.

If we ourselves cannot revolutionize the scene, then at least let us pass on our experiences so that someone else will have a better chance at it.

peace,

-Alex

I actually read this a while ago myself, and re-read it a few days ago and it was funny how much more of the info made sense. Made a few improvements to some of the ways I make a bass line.

First of all great post, found out some nice things from it
There is one thing I cant seem to understand:

Turn on key input, put attack & release to minimum. Ratio should be high (in my opinion). Now tweak the threshold all the way down. See what happens? Find the perfect spot for it so the kick & bass sound best together.

how do I open the key input? its funny but I cant do it or
something like that.
thanx again...           Now say the magic words: Bleep Bleep Deep Deep Wham.....

I'm earing the track on youtube.
It looks like high quality bass layering.
From low to high,
1 or 2 low basses +
1 or 2 mid layers that play only some notes of the pattern.

It requires serious work on leveling, EQ, maybe some boosting, envelope shaping.
Group compression for glue them together. Real pro magic.

One of the layers sounds slightly reverbed, really short time but nice ambiance.
I'm not sure. I need to ear it with headphones.
