bone_flute, i have big problems understanding your post. why would you use 4 channels for bd?!?

i hope people would stop using '2' and '4' in place of 'to' and 'for'...

it's a kind of self-made stereo spread
method

this makes the BD come verry first in the
listeners plan.

@texmwex imagin a room
4 the listerner

then i will write the instruments
placed if he listen them.

1.)BD & BassLine the nearest 4 the listener
(there4 the method above mentioned)
2.)abit in the back Snare

3.)Vocals a little bit more in the back

4.)hihat &(crash (try 2 place the crash abit
larger in the stereo spread)

5.)Reverse Cymbal
6.)Synt1
7.) synth 2

2 realize this u can use the
from BD 2 Synth more verb
and from 1.) 2 7.)
tryng 2 sound your verb with less
high EQ !!!
This make the instruments in the sound
more brilliant !

if u need a synth solo try 2 place them abit
in the front of this scale, maybe
between 3.) & 4.)(less verb 4 more presence than the other synths)

also try your instruments to
fit in this scale

1.)20 20Hz-250Hz the Fundament (BD not less than 80 Hz (couse the energy ))
2.)250 Hz-500 Hz warm
3.)500 Hz-2 kHz definition
4.)2kHz -8 kHz Presence
5.) 8Hz - 20 kHz Transparent,brilliance

...to fit your instruments in this virtual room try to fit them

via EQ an Verb and stereo spread like i
mentioned.

there4 the method above .

yeah, i'm with texmex. its only a few more letters, and otherwise were gonna all end up speaking like text messagers...

yes, you can use the envelopes in battery to cut the end of the tail, or shorten. I use the same method, it has the same effect of cutting the sample, but without altering the original, so you can have several kicks using the same sample, i.e. a boom kick, w/ bass kick, roll kick, etc

btw, although your method is interesting, I think that it is unnecessary. save the stereo image for placing synths, etc. kick should be dead center, ideally mono, if possible

@all of u who have wasted ur time writing trash in this thread and wasted our time making us read it... get a life.. mike dint say u have to follow wat he said nor did he say these are rules.. he follows the same steps n makes some brilliant tunes using them. following these steps introduces u to how it should be done .. from there u take it urself .. the creativity in the music depends on u..

sooper job mike bro.. maybe in ur thread title u shud have mentioned that this tutorial is meant only for ppl with an iq of over 20. dont know why ppl always have a bug up their ass n cant just keep shut if they dont have anything positive to contribute..the way these guys talk makes me wonder why we listen to the artistes we do and why these guys arent the top names in the scene.. idiots!!

anyways helpful tutorial.. cant say i used all ur advice but got some nice tips from it none the less.. im sure it was most useful to new producers though.. good going

all the best.

Thanks Mike for your tutorial.

i have done step by step as you explain and still i get the muddy hum bass.
1.i record my kik from the Pulsar KIKME Synth, and when i zoom in cubase on the sample i see that there is a small space between the first bar,is that a letancy problem? should i just use kik sample?

2. when i record the TauPro to audio, when i zoom i see small nose of signal at thye start on the bass, should i cut this?

3. i do not have the TC sidechainer compressor
how do i do it with other plugs, like the WAVES ect..?
please any tips can help, i have testing somemuch and still get muddy basses.

thanks

arish - just cut the empty space between the start of the kick, now it will start directly...

i dont understand what you mean with a "small nose" if you cut the start of the sample you cut the attack, and its the attack thats the most important part of the sound... so if your not going for a hum hum bass i wouldnt cut,

try and invert the bass, it can often make it sound more clear..
try zeta+ for bass, its very nice and clean.. i like it alot...

Thanks, i'm not a cubase user but found this very interesting and helpful to create all kinds of basslines, not the kbbbk only, as it learns me some basics about bass in general. I also believe that being able to produce "the perfect :S" kbbbk-line is a good beginner-lesson because it learns you a lot of tricks you can apply to other stuff too.

btw: Mike, you should never use a 4/4 kickline again, where's the creativity?

(and that was sarcastic for those who would take it seriously)

Hello all (especially Kaz, Kundara etc..)!

I came across this interesting thread and I had to reply to all those complaining about this tutorial:
stop whinning about it and start making good music. getting the Asrix/ Domestic etc.. sound is a little bit more difficult than you think. dont worry about other peoples Kicks and Lines, sounding like others production wise is one thing - you're talking about sounding music wise which is not realy related to the production of the KickLine.
anyway - nice going mike, and just to annoy some more people here are some more tips:

what mike said about the Rbass is great - try also the MaxxBass from waves, and if you want a strong unique Bassline try these Vst's - NWsynth (Killer!! great quality just play with the release to avoid ticks) and the Arturia arp2600 - Simon Posford uses the real machine in almost all his older and newer Hallucinogen and Shpongle tracks.

Good luck all

Thank you Mike for the big help.Indeeed you reach ppl like me who try for years to progress in goa ,but to find everythin by own is for sure not the way to progress. And this guy ,I dont care who this kaz is,is radiculous,I guess a guy who is sooo afraid he can not develop himself from this basics or what?? lol.. I know what Im sayin here,I make music my whole life, started in a comunistic hardcore strict music school, and rockin different european stages for many many years in another scene.Besides this I am oldschool goa freak I guess,95 my first party got me addicted.Since I read this instruction,I have more knowledge. And for sure I am to own to copy and paste anything.Even thougt I am a rookie.
Big thank you Mike- I heard your tunes they roock!
Respect for help that you dont need to hide this sooo big sacred secrets hehe this is really a big gesture.

I hate you Mike. This is how you make a bassline EXACTLY like everyone else. This is like teaching kids how to like 'mobile raving' - it's trendy and in commercials, but are you TRYING to make the world dumber?

Pure disrespect, lose your ego. Its a tutorial and you didn't make it. Understanding how it has been made before, enables one to understand further comprehension of the many other possible ways.
