Its wasn't like that at all...

Its full of wrong people doing the wrong drugs on the wrong place....and kids who think they know it all....

I always keep the hope its gonna get better...it will!!!!

This is so true FluoSamsara. I would say it's 80% of 16-22 year old arsim shimonim.
I stoped going to parties for this reason too... Drug gangs, shootings (yes, they bring guns, and sometimes they use it on the dancefloor, nice isn't it?), stabings (i've seen that too), overdoses and much, much more.

Trance is beautifull.

Strange... I've been to parties in portugal 4 times since 2000 and never noticed anything unpleasant...

then again I hardly ever notice violance...

In the 7 years that i've (pretty much constantly) gone to parties all over europe i've only seen a handfull of fights (nothing to serious ever)... I've never even seen a weapon at a party.

then are a lot of people saying we're still lucky, that there is more violance in other scenes besides psytrance... well the past year i've been to quite a few drum&bass parties... also.. no violance at all.

Ofcourse, if you go looking for something you'll find that thing everywhere...           www.psytracks.com :: Brand new website for sharing your psytracks with the world. Get a free 250Mb Artist profile, Blog and events calender!

drum n' bass partys are probably the most clean place where you can dance in portugal, sorrounded by good and nice people!!
yes it's true, trance partys in portugal are not that very good nowadays, for every reasons written above! There are even groups of people that go and they do NOT enter the party, they just stay out there to steal the cars!! this is unbelivable!

For me, i think it's a cultural issue here, these young kids have no idea of the trance culture, never had the idea of the rave culture (and they came from clubs straight into trance partys), and they have no idea of the drug culture also!!
When i look around and i see lots of ppl using MDMA with alchool (?!?), E with LSD, or simply putting everything they get into their mouths, i start to think where is this gonna end?? (probably in a mental institute)

I agree with Rik and Pointy here, i think we should be a positive influence to these guys! Everybody is welcome in trance, as long as they understand what is going on in a party, besides all the dance and the drugs and the music...P.L.U.R.!!!

I have this thing, that when a "mitra" comes to me acting rude and with bad moods asking something, like a cigarret or something, i talk to him with a smile on my face, i'm gentil to him (not if he's trying to steal me ), hoping that i can make him see that there are other ways to behave... but sometimes it's really hard and unworth it!!

Hope all this will get better, but i don't know why, i don't believe in it that much...

i think that the problem of aggressive and materialist people attaining PLUR parties is a matter of money and commercialisation.
that´s why i believe in separatism and trying to have underground parties without any interest besides having a mystical experience or at least a peaceful quiet party enjoying the music and having interesting discussions.
and this is not an elitist attitude.
of course tolerance is the principal value in our tradition,
BUT
we first have to respect ourselves and know what we want:

-profound psychedelic music getting you on a trip (altered state of conciousness, magic, mystical experience, love, crazyness etc.)
-no hierarchy between "party makers" and "party goers" (that is also the main principle of underground techno culture)
-respect towards all emanations of existance
-friendly behavior (not tooooooo much either, otherwise it becomes this cheesy fake smile all the time superficiality)

and believe me:
IF WE STICK TO THOSE ASPECTS THERE WILL NEVER BE ANY MAJOR PROBLEM AND THE "WRONG
PEOPLE" WILL NEVER COME.
the fact that they are at the parties is an indication for wrong approach.

CONCLUSION:

WE MUST RECOGNIZE THAT PSY/ GOA HAS TO BE UNDERGROUND AND THEREFORE GIVE UP EXAGGERATED EXPECTATIONS CONSIDERING PROFESSIONALISM.
IF WE ALL DO WHAT WE CAN TO REMAIN INDEPENDENT WE MUST ALL GO TO WORK ELESEWHERE TO BE ABLE TO DO WHAT WE WANT.

IT ALL LIES IN OUR HANDS.
AN INDEPENDANT PARTY SCENE CANNOT EXIST WHEN PEOPLE HAVE TO MAKE A LIVING OUT OF IT. "TERRAPARK" (the "normal" world, as Brousse calls it) HAS ITS OWN RULES AND WE ARE ALL PART OF IT, IF WE WANT IT OR NOT...

I agree with that.
How are people, that haven't been introduced to the trance culture in a 'positive' way, supposed to know, that it is different from the principles of a consumption society, when you can find 'Bratwurst', Bar and RedBull just like on any other festival?

Agree here as well.
I had a small chaishop on parties from 96-02, doing 10-13 weekends outdoors every year and although I loved it first it became like a job in the end. If the shop is running well you are happy but to buisy and exhausted to dance. When it's not running you get into a bad mood.
You forget somehow why you are actually there.

all people who come to parties are in a particular phase of their life.......

initially they are excited about the novelty of a party
then the drugs
then some more drugs
and then a lot of drugs
then they move on to music
then they become conniuseurs of the muic
then they become critics of the music
then they become critics of the crowd

then comes a stage when they move out........

all this is a cycle........some people follow the whole circle..........others drop out in the middle

be patient and the disease will be cured (arsim or watever that shit is)

trust in trance and just dance

bom shankar!!!!!!           At the end there is a DOOR & waiting for you on the other side of that door is either HEAVEN or HELL

All I can say is that Canada rules. Even the big festivals where the people don't know the music that well will have the friendly warm feeling. And the smaller parties, well, some still do offer those mystical experiences (and I don't mean strictly drug induced ones). Obviously, there is no clear solution to what is going on to the scene in Israel and apparently Portugal as well, but there is an immediate one for the individual (you, the reader) - go to small underground parties.

Here in Brazil 99% of the crowd never saw an original CD in their whole life.

All kind of sad things happens on party's here.
I only go to very small parties (usually I give these parties, so I can go to party ). I only go to big parties to see my favorite artists, after they play, I leave.

We're way ahead of you it's quite long, separated into general guidelines & also ways to advance through the hierachy. I should say I've been hesitant about posting this here, but hey, it's pretty relevant

First the Guidelines >>>

Australian Trance Guidelines 2005

Failure to conform to these rules will result in varying consequences ranging from removal from the dancefloor, to exile to other scenes such as the "Techno scene", "Breaks Scene", and the "I guess I'm just not as cool as that person" scene.

1. You must be able to beat mix if you are to DJ.

2. You must have at least one physical feature which is generally not accepted by mainstream society. eg, Dreadlocks, Hair Dye, Trance clothes, Facial piercings and tattoos.

3. You must hate at least one succesful Trance act.

4. You must be able to dance to specific guidelines. (see Trance Dance techniques 2004)

5. You must know at least 30 currently hot Trance acts and DJs.

6. You must know who is DJing at at least 3 points of the night at a Trance party.

7. You must know at least 15 people at any Trance Party.

8. You must smoke either Gunja, DMT, Salvia, or other related psychedelic chemicals.

9. You must know when to leave the dancefloor, cos this tracks not really up to date with the current Psy Trance sound

10. You must know when to start nodding your head to the beat cos this is a good groove.

11. You must be in touch with the current spiritual trend.

12. You must treat those outside of the Trance Scene differently to how you treat those inside the Trance scene.

13. You must know when the next Trance party is.

14. You must be in touch with the best sounds and producers must not use those old ones that that guy used.

15. Producers must never copy sounds, beats or melodies, except for the doof, snare, hats, offbeat bass or running bass, and that distorted synth sound that goes DUN DUN-DARN DARN DUN DUN!

16. You must have your name on the door at at least four Trance Parties per year. If you don't have your name on the door, you must say to your friend "NAH, Its alright, I'll pay. I'll support the night" really loudly and before the door bitch gets a chance to ask for money.

17. You must never be seen checking someone out who you feel attracted to. In fact you must be above sexual attraction.

18. You must have at least the budding stage of telepathy.

19. You must know who to be friends with and who to ignore.

20. You must be vegetarian.

21. DJs must be able to hold a cigarette in their hand whilst mixing as its the whole multi skilled look which really makes a good psy dj.

22. All Live acts must sacrifice triggering the next bassline until they have completed rolling their current spliff.

23. You must not be Jaded. You may however, be jaded about jadedness.

24. You must not be jaded about jadedness towards jadedness. You may however, be jaded towards jadedness about jadedness towards jadedness.

25. All trance producers and dj's should have way to much spare time.

26. VJ's should project only original content, winamp esspecally!

now the rules >

Rules of the Scene

Within the Psychedelically Stimulated Youth (PSY) scene, there are a number of different roles to choose from, ranks to advance (or regress) through, status to maintain and individual inclinations. Here's a brief rundown.

ATTAINING CREDIBILITY POINTS (CP)
To pass up through the ranks (ranking system explained below), you must gain credibility within the scene
+1 CP for each positive post on Oztrance
-1 CP for each negative post on Oztrance
-50 CP for posting a private conversation in public without permission
+2 CP for every hour spent on the dancefloor
-2 CP for every Vibe party you miss
+5 CP for being seen talking to others in the PSY-scene that are 2 ranks or more above you
+2 CP for telling people of the same rank as you about how you were talking to someone above your rank (name-dropping)
-2 CP for name-dropping to people of higher ranks than you
-5 CP for showing up at Space Tribe parties without wearing any Space Tribe clothing
+50 CP for displaying an open mind

ROLES

Scenester:
They have little involvement in the actual creation/co-ordination of artistic endeavours, other than in the offerance of their enthusiasm. If they have little enthusiasm to offer, they generally find themselves getting jaded quite quickly, often stopping coming to parties within a year and settling down with a spouse and children in the burbs.
+5 CP for selling the best 'gear' at a party
-5 CP for getting too wasted and being rude and obnoxious at a party
+5CP for thinking about the music at a party

Hospitality:
Their skills lie predominantly in the preparation of food and beverage, for which they are (generally) known and loved. Those whose skills are not appreciated often make little money from their "Chai" stalls and the less hardy usually return to the role of "scenester".
+5 CP for making each mean cup of chai
-5 CP for every time you don't have soy milk available

DJ:
Their love for music has driven them to throw away countless dollars on god knows how many CDs - some good some bad - until eventually they figure out that their music collections are larger than most peoples and that they may possibly have a chance of recuperating some of the capital investment made by being paid to play this music to others.
+5 CP for playing an appropriate set at a party
-5 CP for playing an inappropriate set at a party

Musician:
Their only pleasure comes from the production of sonic stimuli. They either stumble upon whatever scene is the most accepting of their creations, or they begin writing music for the pleasure of those in a particular scene.
+10 CP for writing an interesting piece of music
-5 CP for writing a boring piece of music

Label Owner:
Most of the time these guys release music because they love it. Occasionally they'll release it because they think they can make money from it. The latter of the two are usually of a "mainstream" inclination.
+10 CP for releasing a quality CD
-5 CP for releasing a boring CD

Visual Artist:
They enjoy dazzling people with spectacular spectral delights, whether they be projected or painted. Those on psychedelics are particularly appreciative of these individuals contributions to 'the scene', as when tripping, such creations come to life.
+3 CP for every punter that tells you your lights / banners are trippy
-5 CP for each piece of generic fractal art you produce

Performance Artist:
These special individuals have what it takes to stand up in front of a crowd and disregard the fact that hundreds, possibly thousands of individuals cannot draw their attention away from them.
+1 CP for every punter looking at you at a party
-5 CP for every prop lost into the crowd

Promoter:
These poor bastards go hard at it week after week throwing money at a scene with which they often have a love / hate relationship. Many give it away quite soon in the piece, but the dedicated generally develop a loyal array of followers, commonly known as a 'crew', to help them out along the way.
+5 CP for putting on a party that more than 100 people attend
-5 CP for putting on a party that less than 50 people attend

RANKS

newbie: 0-25000 CP
You have no powers unless you are an absolute champion on the dancefloor.

PSY-elite: 25000-100000 CP
Powers:
You have limited powers of manipulation over newbies.

PSY-Lord: 100000-200000 CP
Powers:
You may have up to 5 minions, only 2 of which can be located further than 200km away.
You have the ability to manipulate your lesser minions, but be aware that your commands may be overuled by a PSY-God. Any conflicting orders made to the same minion by more than one PSY-Lord will cause confusion and conflict within the minion, who will eventually make up their own mind on the correct course of action.

PSY-God: 200000+ CP
Powers:
You may have up to 20 minions. These are generally located in your vicinity, but as many of 7 of them can be located on any continent in the world, up to 15 can be located further than 200km from your present location but on your continent.
You may manipulate your lesser minions to serve whatever purposes you wish. Newbies and PSY-elite immediately do your bidding, whereas PSY-Lords may question your judgement, but will ultimately feel compelled to obey. Any conflicting orders made to the same minion by more than one PSY-God will cause confusion and conflict within the minion, who will eventually make up their own mind on the correct course of action.

STATUS
Underground
Neutral
Mainstream
Most individuals in the PSY scene prefer either mainstream or underground parties and music, although many don't mind either way. Generally, if you have been to or thrown more underground parties than mainstream ones, you will have underground status and vice versa.

INCLINATION:
Chaos & Discord
Neutral
Harmony & Order
Generally, people are inclined towards one end of this spectrum. Often balance is seen as the best option. Chances are if the music you find yourself dancing to is often described as 'crazy' or 'insane' chances are you will have a preference for chaos & dischord. However, if you like your 'clean', 'smooth' beats, you will be inclined towards Harmony & Order.

BONUS ITEMS
If you're lucky, you may find these on your adventures:

DJ's Belt of Exploding
DJs who wear this belt receive enhanced powers of mixing and never play inappropriate sets.

Technicolor Pantaloons of GMS
Individuals of mainstream status receive +7 CP for all parties they wear them to.

Scroll of Summon Decks
Promoters can avoid a -2 CP penalty by using this scroll if the decks have not shown up by the party's designated start time.

Incredibly Dark Hat of Soho
Originating from London but eventually being taken around the world, this hat grants it's wearer Protection From Evil.

Magic Miranda's Sack of Psyote Buttons
Promoters who use this item at any party get +7 CP for adding to the Vibe.

Jocks of Charisma
All positive posts made on Oztrance by the wearer get +2 CP           new Hadal Drop album on the way

if you don't have the last one get in touch

Interesting, this duscussion (like MP3) is neverending.
On one hand, there is the tradition of GOA trance, with its tribal community gathering of PLURizm, which I really miss. The days when I found myself dancing in a forest with a family of Hofman smiles around me or joining a comfortable chillum circle with ppl I never met before are basically history.
On the other hand, there is the ESSENCE of PLUR, which (if you wanna consider yourself a true new-age-hippy) tells me that EVERYBODY is welcome to the circle of Shiva, no matter what skin color, age, education or whatever.

U gotta remember that EVERYTHING living in the universe has to change eventualy, or it dies. Psy-trance has changed completely when it became more popular, attracting ppl who dont necesarily "been there" and know what its all about beyond the pounding music and drugs. Now you have to choose between the popular side (where the major artists, producers, festivals AND crowd is) or the private one (in small, family-like gatherings).
I've been a part of small gatherings like this (back in Israel), and although you dont get a 'major act' in them, they feel more true to the essence.

I live in Finland now, and here the drug culture (sorry to say) is quite horrible. Its almost like a test of manhood, to take as much drugs (including alchohol) as possible and show the world that finns are the most fucked up party ppl - the most common remark I've heard is "you dont understand this because you dont take enough drugs" - which is, IMO, straying from the path of purity. Drugs are only means to achieve enlightment, not the meaning itself, and here comes the education part, which in our scene (and neighbouring scenes) is totaly lacking. I really dig the action taken by FluroSamsara and his friends when dealing with kids on drugs, it could contribute to the safty and well being of all party goers.

But, dont forget - Shiva is in everybody, and belongs to everybody. Trance music is not yours by merit of clothing, hair, age, sex or whatever. Its music, and like any other art can be precieved differently by different ppl.

boom,
A

What you are saying is very true. When I go to a party I do try not to reject someone due to his
Looks or age (in theory I try to act like a blind-man), often you are surprised to see that these people are actually not that bad.

The problem that is being described here is a problem which is unfortunately a consequence of a growing scene. I haven’t been to a party in Denmark for 2-3 month, not because I’m afraid of going to a party, but simply as someone else stated; people have the wrong “mentality” at parties.

You say that only in Israel you have shimunim, but isn’t it FUNNY that almost every trance scene has name for these people; in Denmark we actually have several.

The thing that is most irritating is that a lot of people have stopped going to parties because of the vibe, and that means that even less “interesting” people are coming to parties nowadays in Denmark.
