I'm sorry, but I thought this culture had its roots in the liberating ideas of the 60s movement, which in my eyes was one among the most important political phenomenons of the 20th century.

Throughout my years in the scene, I've come to a conclusion that the scene could be divided, hypothetically that is, into two social groups with each group uniquely defining what is important to them when it comes down to psychedelic trance culture. No to offend anyone, I don't promote any certain group here or wish to downplay another, this is all just hypothetically, please remember that. First, we have the party-goers that just care about partying. If the music transmits a message, well they couldn't take less notice about it. All they long for is to go out, have fun, dance to music which makes them feel good and that's all. Second, we have the group of people who believes in the "goa vibe" and actually live for it, in varied extents of course comparing people to people. This group may refer to themselves as neo-hippies, or, the people may claim themselves to have been inspired by the 60s movement. Spiritually and politics are in focus in combination with the tribal gatherings. Politics doesn't necessary have to be black&white, i.e. the Republicans vs. the Democrats. Chosing a different path of life compared to the vast majority of people at the geographical position where you're residing can also be a political move, in my humble opinion, as you go against the major flow because of what you believe in no matter how controversial it may be.

so very true ..M happy that i am from the second of the 2 groups that kiriyama mentined

Whatever. Look. I've been observing where this is heading and well... sitting on your butts doesn't help the world. Listening to music doesn't help the world. All of you wankers that moan about the problems in the world only talk about listening to music that has a message. But what's the next step huh?? If you don't have the balls to stand for what other people (the artists in this case) stand for then shut the hell up and stop saying that people who are in trance music just for fun and (god forbid) enjoyment are short sighted, dumb or whatever.

If you were so serious about bettering the world then start with yourselves and stop slagging people off with different views. Yeah, that's right. What you're doing now makes you no better then George Bush for example.           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

Umm...... What about inspiring people to act?
Artists like for instance john Lennon, anyone?
And what about buying a cd where the label actually donate the money they earned on the cd to a organization that actually makes a differens.

um.... ok then fine.. you sit on your ass in Amsterdam and listen to your trance for fun or whatever you do, thats of no concern to me. But then be so kind and let us that "care" do our thing, we that are so "naive" and believe that we can make a change.

to end this i would like to quote Emilio Zapata (1879-1919)

-I would rather die standing than live on my knees!
