i wanted to know
when rolling fullon basslines shift notes like up and down ( the usual 4 bars on C then up to G for 2 bars then finally 2 bars of E...and so on)
now, how do professionally made basslines stay on the same attack all throughout the 8bars even with the change of notes...

my basslines fade kind of when the drop to a lower note.
is it a limiter if so what is the settings for this to happen i havent been successful with it
thanks again guys!!           saii.rave.ca

This topic has been discussed before here is the thread

http://forum.isratrance.com/domestic-bass-please-read-before-flaming/

As of page 2 Ido (domestic) is giving up tips , very good tips on making bass.

Now all the info are there answered but I'll just add this quickly

I'd like to do a tutorial on how to make a good pumpy bass domestic style or astrix kind.
I've just perfected it and learned a few tricks this last week while spending a huge

amount of time trying to understand what was missing and I did.

The link below is what I got after this week end work for those of you who heard the

samples I've uploaded recently you should be able to hear quite an improvement the

reason is I nailed something while comparing my bass waves with those of the like of

domestic and astrix. I will talk about it on the tutorial when I have time so stay

tuned.

http://www.adrive.com/public/bed0e9eab43821522dd3d07ffe36e2716af887f4d8c9b43fec4da17c6028108f.html

In the mean time I will say this.

1. get a good kick half the advice you will get from a pro won't have too much effect

unless you get a very good kick

2.spend a lot of time with the filter envellope and the filter cut off thats where your

bass is made.

3.eq is just for fine tuning. you do not need them to make a good sounding bass so if its

not good without work on the synth more.

4. all what I just said execpt 1 is on the thread of domestic I did not come up with it I just

applied and with a lot of work patience understanding and I improved drastically

5.bounce your kick bass analyse it and compare it to a kick bass of the track you like

... of course it needs to be isolated no lead ect... you will notice something.

have fun

I am new to this (making Psy ans song writing) but I think I have made a decent kick. I will post it up, maybe some feedback will be good and if anyone likes it then of course they are free to use it.

Well just came back home after a long day of work ( I wish I could quit to concentrate on my production and perform live

for an audience.. but hey can't have everything.)

Sali check out that first link its explained there.

Long story short if your bass is well done tweaked properly then the change of note

should not have too much of an impact on the bassline.

check this out:

http://www.adrive.com/public/f90cf09b86e45aa5c80c3efb1c5920c559e394dfd698743ea958818699d932a1.html

I've taken the bass I posted this morning and made it play on different note

This is the very same bass I made originally on A is not suffering by the change of

note.I'm not gonna eq it again but mabye the eq could be slightly different.

If I was to go from A1 to A3 there would be a loss of power but within the same

octave no problem.

You cannot have all note sound the same.. they all have a different bass feel and

have more or less power. unless its not tweaked it should never be too much of a

problem

at least domestic is a good teacher

honestly, he gave the best advices about bassline here ever. i would also say: take a good kick and read the thread.

but better stay on one note, a deep one if possible
i know, it's difficult to switch notes with a proper sound. mind your filter settings (decay, key tracking,...), buy an expensive comp and use it every day over a year.
be careful with notches and hipass in eq, think between which root freqs you change.
maybe slight distortion on a defined band can help.

a solution could be to make tracks for each note and eq individually. way too much work for my taste

I know what you mean Saii. Don't use a limiter. Use a compressor. Use one that shows a meter so you can see when your sound is being properly compressed. I can't tell you the settings because for each situation it's different. You just have to fool around with the setting on it until you get even levels. Also maybe try a eq boost with a wide Q between 40-150 Hz.

i like to use E1 then every 3 bars one note on D1 to give it that whoomff then 3bars again to A1 for some innovated groove

Too much sub man. Sounds muddy. Do a wide cut in the 300Hz area and boost around 6kHz to add more presence. Looks like your kick (In the waveform) is running into your bass.

Good start Saii,

What chain did you use including synth?

which daw are you using?

I would put a quadrafuzz to give the bass more weight and to make it sound cooler if its not already done.

Other than that I don't think it sounds muddy.

Its difficult to judge the bass sound so far because its not as loud and as fat as the kick but quadrafuzz could remedy to that.
