Too much sub man. Sounds muddy. Do a wide cut in the 300Hz area and boost around 6kHz to add more presence. Looks like your kick (In the waveform) is running into your bass.

I don't want to sound like an as... but these are dangerous advice as far as I'm concern. There is no way to determine these kind of eq boost or cut its entirely up to the situation . I wouldnt know if a wide cut at 300hz is good idea. but i would normaly tell you that cutting wide is never in my experience a good idea.

Once you get a bass sound you are happy with, most of the time only small cut of a max of -3db with tiny cue are in order this is only too remove the mudd. when you use wide cuts you are at risk to kill the bass definition whether its in the low or the mid range.

I normally would have around 3 to 4 small cuts in in the low mid range normally but this is not always the case. it depends.some time almost no eq is needed especially if you use quadrafuzz it can make your bass more stable les muddy and more powerfull.

seppa, your right about not "holing the bass" actually there is no EQ on this bass. seppa, its a tau pro with just 2 slight setting compressors 1 multiband compressor and the ableton live sidechain compressor...im using ableton live 7 and i dont have quadrafuzz cuz im on mac OSX UB...i have been searching for quadrafuzz alternative but no luck! if anyone knows any for macs i would pay you just to tell me lol
anyways thanks for the advice and your right near the end when the leads are playing the kick does loose definition. im guessing i just need to high pass my leads...there was no eq in the whole thing except for the Kick
let me know

yeh seppas right, you cant just say o 300hz wide q and increasing presence of higher ranges could clash with click of kick anyways. urs eq, there usally narrow cuts and the most harshest hums in tones maybe @ 120hz or 180hz or 130hz just a small narrow cut to remove the harsh humz. hopfully the filter envelopes are set correctly, therefore less eqing in the mid range

Sorry if this advice sounds bad. I took it from an instrument freq range chart. the muddiness area shown on the chart is between 250Hz and 800Hz. I guess it can't always work in every situation but I think that doing some small cuts in that area can help bring out the bass in a mix and can help leave room for other instruments that have power in that area.

I'll tell you something funny, I was using leopard with logic 8 which I absolutly love. I mean the whole thing. its friendly it works and I didn't have half a problem ever with this rig. but guess what brought me back to xp after over a year of real enjoyment.

A little software called quadrafuzz. Thats right I gave up logic and osx for the vst version 1.01. I run it on ableton since I can't stand producing on cubase.

I mean Live is nice and I did quite a lot of tracks of all kinds on it in the past.

But Man I thought I'd never go back to xp...

In the end I changed because I simply couldn't get that extra edge that I liked so much with quadrafuzz...

In the fullon I don't think to many established artist are doing without it.

I just mess around until I got something I like. I didnt notice a sweet spot. quadrafuzz works really in a different way than any other distortion plugin and its has it own sound so I doubt you can replicate the fx with audio damage.

I've tried them all... this thing is not from this earth.
