Do you experience any problems with the subphatty? I heard it drifts out of tune every now and then. But maybe that problem was just with the slim phatty and they fixed it with the subphatty.

The Slim Phatty needs some warm up time. Living in warm Greece that warm up time for me is 15-20 minutes, then its solid tuning.
The Sub Phatty is stable right from switch on. Different VCO tech all together.

Hi, I'm going to buy synth next month or two. I think about DSI Prophet 08 but for this money I can buy Waldorf Pulse 2 and for example SE Boomstar.
I had Blofeld which i sold after few months because I didn't like its sound and fucked up interface. Pulse 2 looks similar (2 knobs more) but it sounds very solid so maybe I could start with Waldorf one more time.
I think the second solution with two synths will give more sound palette than one.
But maybe Prophet would be better choice?
I can't check Prophet in music store so I have to choose by watching youtube demos and searching internet.
There is always option to buy synth and return it to store, but what would you do first? :-D |

I'd go 1 synth at first & really specs tune understanding the art of synthesis with hardware.
Prophet 08 is very nice, there's a desktop version I think which is cheaper. I don't thinks it's pure analog though.
The DSI Mopho got a LE release with all the casing & controls redone using the Prophet 12 style. I almost got it but Moog Sub Phatty was on sale for $200 cheaper at the time. Mild regret now.

I had a mopho for a while and dound it kinda naff at the botrom end, lavked clarity but it really shone higher up the scales
But wasnt blown away
What about
Waldorf pulse 2 ,, for bass and fx ( new)
Roland jp 8000 for leads and pads ( second hand)
Just a thought
would get the best of analog and digital and a keyboard to work the waldorf pulse 2 with and not spend that much
Buy the waldorf and wait for a good example of a roland jp8000
My 2 cents
Plenty other stuff out there as well though

yeah if the mopho was sounding as good as a pro one we would probably all own one already .. acutally i m curious about it never checked dsi stuff cause from the start it got bad reputation, it would have been hyped if it was sounding good next to their vintage brothers |

Thanks for your advices.
JP 8000 looks quite limited, if I'll go digital I would buy something more versatile.
I think I would buy Virus C (softsynths have similar possibilities but I want a physical contact with instrument, I can resell it always), waldorf pulse 2 and some weeks later Cyclone Analogic TT-303 or xoxbox (i love acid lines )
I hope that will be good setup :-D

Why not a Nord Lead? They go cheap second hand & I've found them much more fun than a Virus escort for the TI.

The jp8000 has a huge range of sounds and is still one of the best virtjal instruments around,
Dont need a lot of features ir there the right ones

virus B/C are good choice for the price but to me it s more to get your hands/feel on a synth that can be inspiring and more fun..than for the sound, for me i stick to plugins unless the synth don t sound like plugins and virus the gap is to close..plugs even have better filters and oscillators imo
what it may lack is the cheap da coloration but this you send your plugs in a good fx even a analog one and it s done.. the color and fxs will take over the sound and what ever come in that is decenlty programed will sound good at the output
but virus b/c are just price of two or 3 plugins, so definelty make sense if you like knobs |
