I think we need different sounds, more experimentation, avoidance of all already tried recipes, weird stuff with an obscure logic behind it, BUT at the same time as danceable and trippy as possible.

Napo i am surprised your supporting this notation. When we spoke the other day i thought we recognized a problem in too many labels releasing too much shit music didnt we? So with all sorts of artists producing ridiculously abstract E.T music isnt the demand for new labels just increasing in order to accomodate this? There is no doubt that the need for new sounds cant be emphasized enough but lets face reality, out of all that experimentation how many artists will actually end up producing something worthwhile? Oh well, people enjoy the likes of Xikwri Neyra & Gorump these days- the sort of music that requires 6 masterings and gently moves at 200 bpm + hehe just my opinion no offense to these guys!

Rajat

Rajat, if the music is "as danceable and trippy as possible" and also has some others of those characteristics I pointed, then the music will probably be good. At least it will be trippy and effective at the dance floor, I thought that's the kind of stuff you like, no?

It's the label's job to filter the music and release only what's worth releasing, I mean stop releasing recycle bullshit and invest in at least partially experimental stuff that is also working on the floor. Check the Twisted stuff, like the Prometheus album I recommended to you.

And just for the records, I rarely enjoy 150+ BPM music, and the main reason is that the quality is horrible = unplayable. Like someone else already said: "I feel like a 4000Hz chainsaw my head". Labels have a strong role in selecting what they're going to release, and this includs giving proper threatment to the Demo stuff they release. A label who releases really good stuff by new people will always be seen with good eyes (Check the Triac and Loud reviews).

@basilisk, yes, good music is good music and has no expiring date, we know that, but 90% of the DJs play mostly unreleased or just released tracks, check all Top 10s around the planet, most of them present 10 disposable tracks that are only on the top because they're unreleased, and in two months no one will put them on their tops again.

Yes, I totally agree with you there... music has become a disposable commodity for most DJs. Very little is treasured as it once was.
