there is a lot of Alternative Trance lately...
lots of people in the world are making trance in case you havent noticed.
some of it is excellent.
some if it is crap.
BUT you owe it to your children to check out something new and not just cop an attitude of sucking the commercial dick- OOH its BIG it must be GOOD. big??? yeah right. even an indie rock band sells more cd's than the most commercial trance artist ever did...
i wont make any recommendations because i dont know whether you like it intelligent or stoooopid or fast or slow or thick or thin or what...
but i just noticed that its funny to me that people breaking away from previous old forms of music and culture and involved in this trance project of making a new culture are sometimes taking the attitudes of the old with them...
this is a party not a concert 
the people playing music are doing it so we can dance together.
check out some interesting new music today.
who knows... take a risk and you might just find something you like
party organizers: use your heart and find the people who you feel have the best vibe and intention to play your parties...
again- taking a risk with the right artists will be worth it...
just like anything in life- nothing ventured nothing gained...
i met this girl at a party once and she said she already knew all the people she wanted to know...
well ok then. for comfort zone armchair politics i guess that works... for a new culture formed on the basis of new sounds and the flight of the spirit i find that a bit funny...
as an artist that is somewhat established i take a risk in saying this... but may the music move forward with or without me or anyone else specifically...

more tech trance- i agree. what about the stuff like M.O.S. and "radio" era x-dream... where did this cool stuff go? also some minimal gear music i call it... i used to hear these kinds of things but not so much lately... its not DANCEFLOOR KILLERZ but really really nice stuff for long trancing sessions... also particularly good in the early to middle night. |

Yes artist tend to create more dance floor Oriented music. The reason for it is to be booked often.
I don't really know what's the problem:

well you should listen to some trance with very very deep basslines. the frequencies around 10 hz (while damn near impossible to reproduce on most sound systems) are known to induce bowel movements.
are you familiar with the phenomenon known as the DiscoDump? this was from the 1970s when many fancy clubs put in high end soundsystems that did NOT have lowcut filters and combining that with vinyl records with that deep rumbling whoomp kick drum and voila...
but you must be careful... around 14 hz is associated with genital stimulation and may induce orgasms in some people...
and around 7 hz will induce vomiting and nausea in most people- used in horror movies in the theaters for years...
specific frequences may vary depending upon the person of course.

any thoughts? well when i hear/read something and i'm like yes, yes, exactly! it makes me feel good to know some people think this way still, and thanks for writing about this.
and then, what's the best way to find out about all this alternative trance? do you mean stuff unreleased? we have really good live local artists, and i bet every city does, too. they're just... unknown. so i guess travelling to the different cities around the world to hear their music and meet the people and feel the way they party, and it's interesting too cause every place psytrance developped with it's unique flavor... and then keeping in touch with the artists and booking them when you come back home, you know... |

have debunked that definition of Disco Dump - it doesn't say so in that article (cos it's a teaser for the program) but I saw it and basically they pretty much proved that the Brown Tone isn't as brown as it's made out to be.
Anyway in my experience a Disco Dump is when you have to take a shit after doing an E at a party, after which you come up like a rocket.

Perfect description of a Disco Dump (try doing a dump on acid - you'll be singing Pink Floyd songs forever)

As most psytrance at parties has lost it's trance these days (for me anyway), I've been seeking it elsewhere.
and finding it in some pretty cool and unexpected places.
I found it several times at low key hip hop clubs
I found it at outdoor bluegrass shows
I found it at stoner rock shows
I found it at house and dnb rooms
What's best is I notice with those who are trancing to the music they love, whether it's hip hop or stoner rock, the vibe is always awesome and full of that peace love unity and respect you hear about.
