I think we've got some real potential to throw some killer parities in Albuq - cuz with support from both AZ and CO we've got a lot to draw on. Plus with access to local NM sound and outdoor venues and with some kick ass local psytrance DJ/producer types we've got more than enough for a first class line up!!! Let's start planning something for spring! - gwyn

you better plan a charter bus from denver, otherwise you're gonna get a lot of 'maybes', then nobody is going to show up.

I'll bet if the line up is good enough you'll carpool the "5 hours" to Albuquerque - gwyn

knowing them, i honestly doubt a lot of people will drive from Denver to party in Albuquerque with a bunch of ravers, even for an international lineup. You'll get 10 die-hards, maybe 20 if you're lucky. a 3-day outdoor event somewhere by Taos would be a different matter, a lot more people would probably come, both from Denver and Crestone. Like I said, most of the crowd here is older, and they go for the right party, not the right music.

to be honest, i think you really ought to build some local support and a reputation first, before throwing away money to try and draw people from 400 miles away.           ..it's just another party..

I wasn't really planning on investing a whole lot into this, just trying to get psytrance folks together from all over the Southwest and beyond to have a good time with some good music. I'm just hoping for a few die hards and some DJs is all I was hoping for from the father reaches - gwyn

If you're super excited about a southwest Trance scene, and are looking for us to drive 5 hrs, then why not come support some people already spending a wee bit of cash and throwing gatherings here in Denver?
DMTree is right, even with a small, decent local following here in CO, it is still difficult to market these gatherings only 40 mins from the city as the culture just isn't quite as popular here as it could be....yet.
But that's what we are working on.
If you're wanting us to come to NM, why not come visit us who are already organizing said events with international talent on the dockets?           <~/ALEXANDER\~>

I'm not going to be back in Albuquerque until late fall when I'm done with school here in NYC, but after that I'm game to road tripping up north. It sounds l like you guys are doing great things! I've already ventured up to the Taos area a few times and have done the 7 plus hour road trip to play at parties in Arizona back when I was living there about a year ago. I just think we've got a lot of potential for fun - gwyn

I know that me and my fam will deff be take'in the track down to these events Gwyn!
So not all of CO feels like Dimitry and Alexander...
If we can make it to Idaho,Kansas,OR, and CA we can make it to NM right?
Being from the Gypsy trance family I am always down for a long drive to see long lost psy fam ,some I have not seem since the ball of sparks in the beginning of time!
Please continue to promote events in NM to Colorado for the rest of us who care.
The land out there is so beutiful and divers from Desert to crazy full living forests full of enchanted beings.
I was wandering if it would be possible to have events on the messa where everyone lives off the grid?
It would be like built in party goa-ers...
Just a thought, would someone who made the decision to live off the grid want to have electronic music blasted by them?Hmmm...

Gypsy, i am sure glad that you CARE, Gwyn should have no worries at all now, because you will be bringing a bus of party people from Denver to come and support her psytrance cause. Because even if they don't want to drive to a mountain party 40 minutes away, they will love going out to Albuquerque.

By the way, I have played a couple of times in NM and lived in the same house with Raja and Mikey Fisher from Albuquerque's Family Productions for 2.5 years, right after they moved to Colorado and were still throwing parties in NM. So I am not just talking out of my ass, I am somewhat familiar with the scene there.

And yes, we did an event in the mesa by Taos 2 years ago, with Fractal Cowboys and Grehg on Earth. It was amazing, even if the hosts were all carrying large guns. Avery was the one who set that up.

most of the psy people in taos live on the mesa. the solstice event 3 years ago was on the mesa. events are often in the woods though.

Wow!
I was simply suggesting that they should drive this way too.
Some of my favorite Moontribe gatherings back in '00, '01, '+ '02 were just outside of Albuquerque in Rio Rancho at ThreeSidedHole....an amazing venue.
I love the several hour drive to an open air...definitely adds to the experience, even though gettin' back can be a pain in the ass!
Go NM! I love the landscape down there and wish Amani + Jonathan were still doing Cosmic Kidz shows.
I asked Amani about that at our Moontribe Gathering back in June + he said that venue was no longer...pity, they all get lost eventually, eh? Even the private land.
If there are Trancers in NM that are willing, please make the trek to our 8/23 gathering with Ecliptic + Treavor Moontribe, just 40 mins west of Denver. We would be ecstatic to see the NM folks out gettin' their stomp on, and will gladly return the visit.           <~/ALEXANDER\~>

Wow,you are out of line bro.
All I am doing is supporting psytrance in NM and and all you have to say is negative things about psytrance on isratrance...a psytrance forum.
All Gwyn is doing here is promoting psytrance in NM and CO why are you bashing her down with negative feed back instead of being positive and helpful?

dude, you got me all wrong. i am not bashing her down, i am trying to point her in a different direction. she was talking about throwing a large event and bringing in DJs from out of state in hope of attracting trancers from CO and AZ - do you seriously think it's a feasible idea? how can you promise her support if you can't bring people out to your own back yard?

look, I've been DJing for going on 12 years now, 8 of them dedicated to psytrance. I've organized and played many parties in many different places and have seen styles, promoters, collectives, crowds come and go. And no, I don't like where psytrance is right now - but that's not really the issue. The issue is that many of our friends - the crowd that has been coming to our events for years - don't want to hear it all night anymore. It's human nature - people get sick of the same thing when it's played over and over and over and over and over, all night long and all morning, too. They're over it.

Larger cities with an influx of foreigners already familiar with the music don't have this problem. In Denver you'll have to build it from scratch. Nobody ever travels here from other states for parties, we've had maybe 20-30 people come up over the last 5 years. It's just too far for most people to drive, even if it's a great party. Yes, some people will do it - I've done it, and you've done it, but you can't base your attendance on people from out of state - you have to have a base - a dedicated one, since there is always a lot of competition, no matter what date you pick.

Anyway, I don't have any recipes for building it. From what I've seen, indoor and club events in the city get you the best promotion and visibility and help build reputation for you and your music among partygoers. The Denver crowd is notoriously fickle, lazy and unwilling to drive long distances and go outdoors if they don't know the promoter very well. Throw a few club events, get your name out there, and you'll be getting a lot more folks coming to your dream festivals in the mountains.

Of course it would help if the music was getting a bit more interesting and innovative right about then too... but that's another conversation.

          ..it's just another party..
