By the way 100 tracks a week makes about 700 minutes in average which would ofcourse be around 12 hours. Now there are 168 hours in a week of which you sleep around 60 so that would leave 110 hours. Now if you work or study that takes around 40 hours. So 70 hours left. Now breakfast, lunch and a snack every day makes maybe 12 hours a week. So then there's maybe 55 left. Do you shower? Lets say that takes 5 hours a week. So 50 left. Lets not forget that it takes time to get to work or school or whatver. Maybe 30 min there and another 30 back? Hell lets make that 5 hours all together. So 45 hours? Isratrance would be 1 hour a day or lets say on average 10 hours a week. So then there's still 35 hours left. Do you watch tv? Read and write emails? Visit maybe other sites too? Maybe 15 h a week on average consumed to that? So there's 20 left of which you spend 12 hours to listening to psytance. And if you want to form an opinion on a track I say you have to listen to it atleast 5 times. So.. it's just not possible.. Ott, i think u r not right in any way. Spindrift is the only one who get seems to be one of the real artists in this discussion and he seems much friendlier to me then u. U gave u as always very arrogant and fucked off.
This is not the scene to make the big money, so u should produce rap, pop or rock if u want to make big buissness. Spindrift got that. I feel how fucked up u guys with $$$ in ur eyes are coz u someone gets ur stuff for free and u loose some bucks. Hahaha good so maybe u learn something from it.

You can't really argue with Spindrift. he'll never get it!
In my opinion his an "artist" very bitter at the labels for not releasing his music So he argue over and over against the oh so evil labels and the oh so greedy artists releasing with those labels.

Now flame me spindrift... I don't care one bit.. I lost all my respect for you.. Your the most judgemental and brainwashed of all in this debate!

I know how OTT must feel. And when people talk stupid like you just did EYB, you know what? They really need a reason to call you fool, and you are so dumb as to give it to them as well. I think there was / is a very interesting debate going on.

I totally understand the points of Spindrift, all about trying to adapt to new environment etc. But I totally disagree with the way he advises to act, since in this way it really looks as artists are 'born to serve' the public and basically have no legal right to get paid for their work.

On the other hand I am very fond of OTT's point of view.

The axiom that certain ppl do what they like in their life and therefore should do it for free is so senseless and evil, as if it was invented by someone that feels really bad about ppl enjoying or having fun. I totally agree that it is completely wrong the way it goes today, and music must be paid for - someone always working hard to make it, pays for equipment, spends his time on this rather on anything else that can move his career higher in other occupation.

It seems that the change that happened with the mp3 industry, really hurt the artists, and the way Spindrift gives to solve it is to be subdued to a system and maybe still get fucked after that. I dont accept this at all. But on the other hand I dont see any other good solution to the situation.

@EYB it is not about bling bling at all, when will u understand this? That i why u might be a fool. Artists make music because of the need to make. BUT they work as hard as anyone there fore they dont need to give anyone anything for free.

Still, its always gratifying to see somebody run out of argument and resort to the tactics of a five year-old.

Who run out of arguments?
You seem to me like you prefer to discuss these matters on the level on a five year old, and haven't really made any proper arguments to be constructive or add anytihng of value to the debate.

I asked you what data you based your statement that selling downloads is a "loss-leader".
No answer, so I presume it was based on loose prejudgement on your behalf.

For you it's only "all very boom shankar" that people give their music away, and in the same sentence you say you only see taking.
Thats excatly one of my points, that if artists had a bit more spirit of sharing there would be more giving.
But you of course want to be in the receiving end instead.
Same goes for the fans, so we end up having only taking.
Why don't you try to give and forgive a bit to change things?

And you did say that you did well on your music. Ok so now doing well would include a Porshe on the driveway.
Paid by your fans who only give you bread on the table now, and therefore you feel ripped off by them.
I also think you are in the wrong business if you like to drive a Porshe.

@HandA
Get what?
What points have you made that you think I should get?
Hardly any factual or constructive ones what I can find.
And I understand you want to give back for all the people that think you seem like someone who is dissapointed over your carrier (not saying you are, but people do seem to think you come across like that many times).
I can tell you that the labels that do approach me normally do not meet well with the terms I demand.
If it's not released under an open license or I get a fairly fat advance I'm not interested to support their business.
You really have no clue about taking a stance and acting accoring to what you belive in it seems.

@Kemic-Al
Yeah, whatever.

@Yuli
I'm not saying that artists should not get paid, but it's not a god given right in an underground scene and never have been.
If you don't manage you have to face that reality instead of complaining on the fans that do not pay you.
If you do manage you should be very happy about that, and IMO at least shut up that you are not making more and don't have a Porsche.

Like I said, my motivation behind making this arguments is that i think it's to much complaining and too little understanding and too much finding scapegoats and to little looking on how to solve the problem.
But it always ends up as an argument, because the people who really seem to think it is a problem rather stick to complaining and looking for scapegoats.
With that attitude I don't think anything will change.
I think we need to discuss about what positive actions can be taken.
But maybe I'm wrong and some of you guys make a post someday convincing people that they should stop downloading.

Ok smoke another bong and do your Yoga dude Let's all share the eternal love LMAO

Do you really think the quality of music have increased over the years? I don't. There's so much crap released these days that it should be a crime to open up yet another bedroom label releasing your friends tracker "music".

But of course it's an easy way to get free into the parties, be a cool dude, get a little pocket money for your stash and harder chemicals and to get a few groupie b*** jobs !!!

EYB you seem more and more deluted. Enjouy your massive mp3 collection dude.
