Is there such a thing like a keytracking EQ?
The closest thing is harmor's local EQ where you can edit harmonics of the sound. So an example of how this works on a bassline:
Let's say your bassline is E1 - 41.20 Hz. If you boost the fundamental by +3 dB on a normal EQ, once the bass note goes up to let's say A1 - 55.00 Hz that bass note will not get the boost unless you use a really wide Q. The problem gets worse with upper harmonics as you have to affect a large portion of the sound to cover the possible notes.
With a keytracking EQ like the one in harmor you boost the fundamental by +3dB and then as the notes go up or down the fundamental is always boosted by the same amount because it affects the harmonics of the wave, and it's not just a static EQ.
I'm wondering if there is a VST EQ that works like this, that basically tracks notes and moves boosts/cuts as such. |

there's this thing. but let me tell you: there's no narrow Q settings on those filters.
>but if you're trying to make the fundamental of each note higher in volume, you can do that by simply pulling up the gain as a whole. if you get different volume between the notes, that's dynamics you need to look to. <

Xetni , hmmm you mean one like this?
Bab,equilibrium looks good
"SurferEQ tracks the pitch of the instrument or a vocal track and can change the EQ frequency accordingly in real-time, making it possible for the first time to naturally control the fundamental frequencies or harmonics of a track. Just set any of the EQ bands to a desired harmonic and watch SurferEQ move with the track, staying always relevant to the music". quoted from their site
"edit" woops, just see a post that frsbi mentiond, already been sed, oops soz

yeah, it's a shame surfer EQ does not, however, have more extensive options regarding the EQ curves themselves, narrowest Q on a Bell filter is still a pretty wide Q. some may argue that sounds more musical, but sort of defeats the purpose of this thing entirely, since you'd think of it to get rid of bad sounding harmonics on a Bass sound, for example, and you'd be happy knowing it would follow pitch, happier still if this cuts could be made dynamic.
(there's an advice called Bass Exorcist that does this for Ableton Live + Max 4 Live - it's a max 4 live device), except for the dynamic part, plus you can't choose the frequencies, even though most of the time this are the right ones to tame.
but if you give it a shot, be sure to check it's settings, since the whole pitch detecting thing sometimes needs some adjustment, and you can get it to follow along flawlessly - be sure to check it out while demoing this thing.

Equilibrium...
Oh god, the all-pass mode with phase mode on Free!
So much control over the shape of the hi-pas phasing on my saw wave bass.
Completely worth the price.
