Haven't found a thread about EQ so I made one.

The best EQ I heard so far was the free ElectriQ Posihfopit. That plugin has more bugs than all the other software I tried and crashes in every DAW (and sometimes even crashes the DAW as well). But it sounds so damn good. Really frustrating that something can be so good and bad at the same time.

I know FabFilter Pro-Q is all the rage. It's nice and clean...too clean if you ask me. I like EQ that introduces a bit of color.

Some of the curves on Fruity's Parametric 2 can yield nice results as well.

So, what do you use? One EQ to rule them all? Or many different ones?
Something nice & precise for the surgical cuts and another one that is "musical"?
Graphic or parametric?
Let's hear it.

waves H eq, sonimus soneq are 2 that are nice.

nebula for more authentic analog sounding eq (but usually go for hardware chain.. rarely use it as the workflow of this plug is a pain and would not recomend it cause of this)

clean, ozone 5 eq is good

there is plenty of others.. but usually go for one of these for my plug needs

I use Pro Q for everything personally. It's the only EQ plugin that I ever use with the rare exception the Bootsy EQ from varietyofsound. Has nice coloration.

Not saying that's the way to go, just how I've been doing it.

I like DDMF IIEQPro, its got some nice Butterworth options, and as far as I can hear is very transparent.

For individual channel EQing I tend to use Melda's MEqualizer, just because its quick and easy to set up. And is free.

OP mentioned Electri-q as a good freeware, and I agree. It does the same thing basically that IIEQPro does. It seems to crash on me sometimes though.

UAD Cambridge hands down is the most often used plugin for mixing here. one of the best hp i've heard.
For mastering I use Baxter because it is very powerful (and free) plugin and if i need some surgical stuff i use pro-q.

Pro Q, Waves 550 (for adding top end) and Logic Channel EQ user here.
No EQ does a brilliant job at high passing the subs, so I just make do with what I have.

placebo ! i guess these can sound identical , like 90% of clean digital eq can be made to null when phase inverted, it s just the Ui that probably fool you ! ozone 5 is a excellent eq in phase or Lp mode imo but ozone as a bad reputation.

it s far to be my go to tought cause of the Ui that is not easy to use imo

pro Q never win to cut low end here , i used other option for this, with pro Q i don t know why but i dont get the most detailed sound and the best result.. i pretty sure it could be placebo ! or i just like eq with different q/boost/cut interaction like waves H eq blue or X eq.

imo for clean digital eq a interface that lead you to the best result is what matter more than the sound of a eq though as most can be made to sound identical...also the flexibilty of the bands/shelf/hp/lp algos ect.. is always a +

give a try to H eq , it have the api curve sound inide it..also neve ssl.. and more i guess..also clean.. maybe it s just suited for me but after selling my duende it have been good replacement..not sure i like as much the sound and hp and lp though but i get good result out of it cause of the bands Q/phase relation ship that make it easy to find some sweet spot, really great eq when used as clean flexible eq..

agreed... i think i also love the way the curves can be drawn , luv its layout and colorful faceplate, hpf cut probs well use a shlef to lower rest if need be.. pro q

pultek emu of the vintage

sonnox dynamics on board eq is good
aswell as URS eqs

softubes focusing Eq is a nice one - nice in passive mode

its a combination of 2 classics

h-q i dont like the flexibility of the curve types personally but then again i like its pitch keyboard for visual reference

graphic or parametric - ya find that ul combine to suit the job
