numbers/curves are often not the same, to do the same thing you need a analyzer. you can t judge quality of a eq like this. but what i can tell is all the one listed here are top eq |

Try Engineers Filter for high-passing...

Maybe you like it, I think I do. Seems to clean a lot of muck from the bassline easily with high order Chebyshev. |

i like more than kind of hpf, more natural/more transparent best for me.. but on what ssl do you mean? the duende or waves or uad?
not familiar with uad but the waves that i found good (havent used it in years..)
duende ones are good, channel strip and X eq hp were my go to for years for non steep cut for mixing , no complaint.
i tired once the one in son eq it seems it can do the job just fine too .. but not steep, more steep the more you have aritfacts anyway.. if you dont hear them when cutting in the low it s just cause your monitoring dont go low enought or is not detailed there ..there is no transparent magic cut |

Has anyone noticed when you hi-pass the subs on a bass even if it's just a gentle filter around 20 Hz, the peak meter on the channel jumps up about 3 dB? What's that all about? |

So what do you suggest for high passing sub bass? I haven't been keeping track with what's new in software land.
I should not that for high passing sub frequencies, I have tried:
Logic Channel EQ: Not bad, not great either.
Logic Phase Linear EQ: Crap.
Sonnox EQ: Ok.
Pro Q: The best to my ears, shite with phase linear mode on.

DDMF LP10 is really good as a HPF. If I use a digi EQ it's always this one, and 99% of the time it's just as a HPF before the analogue chain.
It's great because you can choose minimum phase, linear phase, reverse linear phase or anywhere in between. It's also very cheap.
In my experience, HPF's set really low (0-50Hz) should always be minimum phase (analogue style), or it just plain sounds bad...

Yup, any linear phase EQ induces this ringing/(pre)delay at the cut-off frequency that pisses me off. Its very obvious in my studio and it sounds like shite.
Nice1 on the DDMF LP10, downloaded the demo and will give it a spin tonight.

pro Q have bad linear phase though some are better but i would need to make some new comparaison to be sure to not recomend some bulshit but same i really rarely use linear phase..as minium phase can do the job just fine.
i have both ddmf too but rarely using them ,should install them back too but to me these are not better than others populars eqs.. (don t remember the low cut)
now many eq can do really good low cut ,still haven t compared the new ones i use though .
if one post a simple raw kick bass we would be all fixed |
