Current state of music
High Powered = More BPM and more energetic attitude.
On the rise = Has not reached its full potential
Peaking now = Has reached its full potential, usually peaks for 1-2 years in total.
Has Peaked = Has been used to death, on the way out until it goes retro.
High Powered Melodic Psy - On the rise
High Powered Tech Trance - On the rise
High Powered Progressive - On the rise
Electro / Tech inspired Chill - On the rise
Low BPM trance Chill - On the rise
Retro Psy - On the rise
Slow Full Onish - On the rise
Electro Progressive - Peaking now
Soft Progressive - Peaking now
Dark Psy - Peaking now
Soft Full On - Peaking now
Generic Full On - Has peaked
Ethnic PsyChill - Has Peaked
Dub PsyChill - Has Peaked
Vokal Psy - Has Peaked
Tribal/Minimal Progressive - Has Peaked
Generally I expect producers to have a harder time getting decent fees and gigs in 2007, while a chosen few producers will see their fees increase.
Growing commercialization of psy, mainly in regards to festivals. More killargh lineups (Infected Mushroom, GMS etc).
I think 2007 will be good for european producers and bad for israeli ones (in general). Generally because the european ones are geographicly spread over a larger area, therefore they are more independant of each others techniques and methods, meaning they are more likely to invent something new on their own, as opposed to being inspired by what is already there.
In regards to DJs, I think they will become more popular, since producers are no longer a rarity in the scene (half of the people I interact with produce, its actually more than those I know who DJ).
People will bitch more in 2007 than they did in 2006, "I cant make money of psy anymore" will be a popular remark.
2007 will see CDs become less and less popular, producers will need to stand on their own feet, not being able to sell their tracks as fillers for mediocre compilations, people will only buy what they really enjoy listening to.
Music and musicmakers will see themselves become a consumption good, more than respected art(ists), which will seed negative emotions in their minds, fuelling to this problem will be a new attitude of music having to be original and different in order for it to be considered art.
Its just the beginning of cause, but those are my expectations for 2007.

its just like full on with slower bpm
by the way the bpm does not say a thing you can make full on with 135 bpm(many releases are 135 bpm check some of sesto santo/ferby boys and there are more)
and you can make prog at 142+ bpm (many mainly old releases are 142+ bpm)
and all those prog on artist are just full on in slower bpm. |
