You know the feeling

About a year ago I hated the”new wave” of progressive which was emerging, (melodic and soft), just like I hated progressive in the beginning (when it first appeared). I just didn’t understand how people could listen to this sort of progressive. Just like many in this forum who still don’t like this new wave of progressive, and just like people here who don’t understand how people can listen to progressive at all. So I hated this new wave and I became more and more frustrated at parties, just like people in this forum when the new Ticon, Shiva Chandra, and Haldium albumes came out.
It's hard to explain like progressive is, but there is a moment a feeling when those bongo drums and those soft melodies just connect, I don’t know when it happened, and I don’t know how I happened, but it happened, the one thing I thought I would never ever play at my home has become almost dominant at my stereo. I have become a “bongo” slave a slave to those drums, be careful if it hits you one day exactly right, you’re sold. And there is nothing you can do about it, when that mayhem “feel” takes over you are a slave. And I don’t care how hardcore you think you are, because that one day the when the bongo “feel” hits you just right you’re a gunner.
Now to the question does anyone here know what I’m talking about?

Yeah, happened to me too, about a year and a half ago.

I guess you can "get used" to every type of music, if you hear it enough, and maybe even like it.

Hr. doctor,
I’m not new to this club , I was just being nostalgic, the soft trance, is a relatively new phenomenon, so i guess we are all new to this club, some newer then others. But it's not that i like digweed or tijesto, i like true to nature, flowjob, tegma, son kite, ticon and so on. But i still like some full on, and i still like goa sometimes, just not to much. It's just funny that about a 1.5 years ago i would never ever have dreamt listening to so soft trance at times even progressive house.... ..... then it was the darker the progressive the better....

like in many aspects of life, soft can be powerfull, while hard can be redundant. me, i like both equally. the best examples of artists who combine the hard edge of psychedelic full-on and the soft tenacity of proggresive would be, imo: ticon, cosma, Jirah, atmos and shiva chandra, to name a few.
and yes, i do know where you're coming from. i was once like that: one style of music, come hell or high-water. than gradually i opened my mind and explored and grew musically.

same here
i was starting to turn with:
tegma - chauros (malmoe rmx)
son kite - recieve (the first part)
and i used to be laughed at by my few trancey friends.
ticon - we are the mammoth hunters and cosma's out of range totally turned me.

i used to puke from all the minimal progy music, i felt like it's just a beat. nothing else.
but now i know..................

THE GROOVE

man you can't say no to the groove, it's just so flowing and..... emm... and.... groovey

finland full on still hasn't hit on me, i feel like i'm missing something great. so i'm just waiting for it to catch on.           REHAB is for quitters

actually..quite the opposite happened to me... i started out being sold out on nice happy melodic music... mine was the morning glory story!!! then one day... something happened... i'm not sure but i think one of the DarkSoho boys was responsible for this when he played in our city... and all my fave tracks from zorba and the mystery of the crystal skulls were not my faves anymore!!! i got trance-formed..hehehe...

gilad.. i had the chance of listening to a finnish artist- sala kavalah. theirs is really nice music... dark but very groovy. nice one!!

I used to really dig the soft prog stuff. I loved Antix, P-Woland and really a lot of others. Now I just can't stand it. I want progressive, just not soft and fluffy. And no, I don't consider most of the new fluffy progressive tribal at all. For 'tribal', look up Prana in your dictionary, not Son Kite.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222
