Mastered by Son Kite - exactly their problem. Son Kite sound is problematic at best, and although it sounds good with their own tracks, it craps any other sound type and makes it too 'floaty' in my ears.
The trick with mastering is to compliment the artist's sound, not force your own sound on their work, and that's (IMO) S.K problem (also happens with other mastering techs).

Now, lets not start an argument about this, since sound is, in the bottom line, a matter of taste. some like the floaty type of production, while others like the deeper/penetrating one.

love,

Don't agree. It's 9 songs and they're all pretty similar. I like my progressive to be more smooth and without the israeli influence. (Son Kite/Kooler, Vision & Canedy)Still, a good disc this is, there's no mistake about that. In fact, it's better than the Lish album. Could do without some of the voice samples/singing though.           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

One cannot even compare between the sound production of Yotopia/Lish (I consider these bands to be completing each other) and FreQ or Antix. Even Iboga would die to reach even a close level of deepness and cleanness that these israelies have in their production.
regardless of the content of the music which is a matter of taste the sound production of Yotopia (mastered by BOG from Com.pact, who also mastered the Lish album) is far superior to any other psygressive produced these days.
ok, also the content is superior...

hmmm...cant agree on this...

i really like the album...beside antix the proggi album this year

but i think Iboga has still the highest level in progressiv production...just listen to antix and freq albums...both huuuuuuge productions...mastered by son kite if i'm not wrong...and they make for shure one of the best in proggressiv mastering...
and i'm shure antix kiks ass on a big soundsystem like nothing else...never herad such clear and powerfull subbase...

i think production is aswell about taste imo

for example the israli stuff is more limited in generall..thats what i like with the iboga sound..more dynamic..
but thats just what i like...so..it's all about taste..aswell with the production...

just my opinion...

cheers..

I totally agree. Besides, anyone making such claims about themselves or others lacks maturity in my mind. Since when did music become a pissing contest? Maybe it is that way in some parts of the world, but it does not have to be.

Good music is good music, great music is great music. Instead of slagging others, why not just be happy for all the amazing tunes out there for all of us to enjoy?

By the way, I felt this release is on a whole about a 2.5 out of 5. Some good tracks, but a little predictable and overly synthetic sounding for my taste.

I forgot to mention thatI really enjoyed tracks 1 and 2, and the last track was a nice vocal number too, although I would have liked the vocals to remain wordless, I find lyrics kinda kill it for me.

Peace!!
