hey ppl..............
give it rest !!!!!!
let the boy play.
i see all these msgs about age and stuff like that
and im getting to the point the most ppl here thorwing stones are totaly jelous of him on spun
come on guys and gals, get a life. this isnt going to fuck up the "scene" here in brazil
what is fucking things up here are stupid promoters and selfish djs.
focos on your own talent, and someday maybe u get called to some major label.
i think spun did the right thing in getting the boy to play for them
cause is simple matter of things
if u do something at early age u will be killler in doing anything when u hit the end of teenage
djing,driving,working with pcs and etc....
all this come with time
and he has all the time in the world
so be sure that in some years u will be seeing rlz or something like that from him
he as talent.period!!!!!!!!!
so stop the the stupid discostions and focos on your selfs!!!!
see ya

So, lets go backwards...Why should this discussion be stopped ? Why this thread has been started for ? To applaud Yasser & Spun ? If so, I´ve totally missed the point and you´re quite right, everybody should stop this argument right away.

Why the boy has talent ? Would it be because he started playing at an early age ? Let´s not start with he-rocked-that-dammed-floor-down-to-its-knees balalaika.

"...if u do something at early age u will be killler in doing anything when u hit the end of teenage
djing, driving, working with pcs and etc..." Here a period fits nicely. If you start ANYTHING early enough in your life, your bound to master out that. (That is, unless you´re a certified moron ). That has got nothing to do with talent, but with training & practicing.

Now...Since talent has been mentioned, I think it would throw some light into this argument if someone would be nice enough as to elaborate on the kid´s talent, from an objective perspective (other than merely applauding him).

Oh...naivety ! One good thing about applauses is that one can not be always sure where they´re exactly targeted at.

I don't even want to talk about morality. Is it good for a 12 years old kid...... well, everybody has got his opinion and should be respected. Nobody owns the truth!

BUT when people stop going to parties basically for the sound, for the place, for the vibe.........
and start going to parties because there is a 12 year old kid playing...... this is

COMERCIALISM & GOOD MARKETING BEHIND ALL

And as Goa Gil said: "......Psychedelic Trance is more than a Disco under a cocoonut palm tree....."

nice discussion here...

I met Yasser in a gig January 2003 together with his father, Tim. Both of them were very respectful and humble and his father was very conscious about risks involving a 12 yo lad surrounded by a hedonistic atmosphere such as trance parties are – I deal with electronic music since 1988, trance since 1995 and world-wide through Chaishop.com since 1999, and no one will convince me that trance parties or any other “are all about spiritual matters”- that’s bollocks. Period.

You may have some likewise experiences in selected parties in Peru, Mexico or Bolivia, but you cannot wisely affirm that in an environment such as Brazil. I know my country very well and I can tell Brazilian people like to party HARD, indulging themselves as much as they are able to. We are having strong problems with Narcotics Police in clubs in Sao Paulo, which also happened in other major cities, and they are certainly not doing that on a “we are suspicious” basis – they know what they are going to find.

Back to the topic, when I met him Yasser also showed himself very mature on drug issues. He personally told me he would not play tracks like “hashish” because doing so he would support drug use. Smart enough, though naive as a kid at his age should be.

I personally think if his parents agree on what he is doing, there no point on discussing that under a social-pedagogical approach. However it can be morally questionable as e.g. some parents agree or support that their children steal, and that really will not make stealing a nice thing to do.

I personally think that in a year or two from now DJing will be seen in a totally different perspective by those who focus on development of new cultural structures. The eager for names, styles and faces is soon to be replaced by a new format, which nobody knows exactly how it is going to be. In other words, very soon it will not matter anymore WHO is playing, but WHAT is being played. Electronic music (and trance is not an exception) has tranformed itself in business (which is totally OK under the circumstances) though the counter-attitude that now after 15 years made a whole generation dance to repetitive beats - and find rolling basslines as natural as a rock n’roll 4x4 rhythm used to be - shall find a new form of transformation. But that’s another history and some will never realise what is going on and will keep on promoting and selling faces, names and other likewise oldfashioned commodities – well, maybe they will need another 15 years....

For now, as I am usually not keen on criticising third-parties marketing strategies, my best wishes go to Yasser and I hope he enjoys his time in full.

keep rocking, kid

C23

The above mesg deserves a thread on it own. You really should open a thread with it. There´s a whole book to be talked about "A new format, which nobody knows exactly how it is going to be". New terrain, that´s what e-music is about. I apologize for the OT.

Hey yall give a kid the chance to grow up his own way.
Age can´t be taken as a boundary for music.

Good luck Yasser, kick some serious ass out there!

By the way the kid really rocks the dancefloor when he plays

I thought I have given an answer to this in my posts at this thread, read them again (and follow the links).
Adding more info, Yasser´s Top 10 (source: http://www.vagalumerecords.com )

1. 1200 Mic's-Hashish[live mix]
2. Kyo-Log vs Ultravoice-Smash
3. Shanti-Fire in the hole
4. Sx-Herpes
5. Absolum-Stupid Humans
6. Cyber Cartel-Cosmic Disorder
7. Dynamic-Dj's on Pills
8. Cosma-Mixed Up
9. Rinkadink-Sheep Satellite
10. Cyber Cartel-Play Time

As I already said, he plays mainly released tracks. Curiously, 2 drug related songs (very good songs IMO): DJ on pills and Hashish (live mix). Also Cyber Cartel - Play Time which has a sample about LSD...
I´m not criticizing, just find it funny, after the Carbon23 post...
