That 1.2 million documents were leak to the internet, and a website had the opportunity to publish it, and it was able to stay online. And lots of ppl from all over the world got the chance and FISICAL PROOF (tho its in the internet)to see that some politicians are scum and dont diserve to be in charge of a country.

the 250,000 Diplomatic Cables which were Classified from Top Secret down were stoled by a Private First Class in the U.S.A Government. He worked in the intelligence section and had unlimited action 24/7 to this cables.
He went in one day with CDRW's full of music, wiped them clean inside and downloaded the information to the discs (labeled Lady Gaga, Pink etc.). He then passed these on to Wikileaks along with the video of the Gunship and the war log data that Wikileaks published.
Nothing new, many journalists get brown envelopes turning up with classified info. It's called investigative journalism.
So Wikileaks got all of this, in the meantime the PFC was arrested for stealing the documents and is currently in remand in a U.S army prison, and most like faces 52 years in prison for his crime.
Wikileaks then contacted the Whitehouse directly through their lawyer and asked them to help them go through the cables and ensure that nothing threatening national security would be published.
The Whitehouse pretty much told Wikileaks to piss off. So Wikileaks went "ok, we'll just publish anyway then". And they did.
The documents that are leaked are causing a big fuss because unlike rumors etc., these are undeniable proof of the crimes against humanity & the hypocrisy of democratic governments globally.
It is undeniable proof that democratic governments across the globe are acting in their own personal interest, not in the interest of the millions of tax payers who voted them in.
It is proof that everything we, the people, thought was a fair world is a lie and that we need to step outside of our little comfort bubble and demand for answers. We need to demand that these criminal acts committed by our governments be answered, that they be charged for these crimes.
Julian Assange by the way has not committed a single crime in releasing these documents. At most, he has handled stolen good and that's it. Most times such a thing rarely even goes to court.
BUT because he has embarrassed world leaders they are hurriedly trying to find a reason to charge with a crime. Remember, he has not been charged with a single crime in regards to the leaks to date. He is completely innocent.
He is in prison over supposed sex crimes. He has not be found guilty of anything there either.
The sex crimes supposedly occurred in Sweden. He was charged once before but due to lack of evidence it was thrown out of court and he was cleared.
Then when he announced the release of these cables, the Swedish courts suddenly decided to charge him with the crimes again.
He is currently fighting extradition from England to Sweden, as Sweden have stated that once they have custody of him they will pass him over to America (where they will execute him, they have already said so - CIA).
If you bother to actually do 10 minutes of proper research you will find all the facts on this case instead of nonsense ignorant comments made so far.

No, some of them actually have Top Secret on them.
I do not think, for example, that the U.S government would want the world to know that it supported Pfizer in illegal drug trials in Nigeria in 1996, or that it supported BHP Billiton in destroying a $21 BIllon deal between Rio Tinto & China (thing a government should not be part of in any way).
Just because the first 1,000 leaks (out of 250,000) have not be a major disturbance does not mean they have more info of a bigger nature.
They are not going to leak the big stuff straight away.
Wikileaks has stated that the stuff that will be leaked later has info such as the CIA involvement in 9/11. Info on alien lifeforms. Info on the secret societies well all hear about but have no proof on.
Also, there is the "insurance" document that was released to over 100,000 people globally that requires a 256 character key to unlock (it cannot be broken into, some of the worlds best hackers & government departments have tried).
This file has information that, having been seen by very few, would be the data equivalent of a thermo nuclear device being set off.
Wait and see, if it was such little consequence why would the U.S government be so eager to wipe out Assange? Why would some call for his assassination? Why would his own country threaten to cancel his passport?
Do some damn research instead of spouting bullsh!t!

That is the whole point of Wikileaks. They want real free speech & transparency.
We live in a world that is run by the state, and the state fears us, the people.
I do sincerely we are seeing a rather large change for mankind.
Remember that at the end of 2012 humans will change or evolve? Who's say this isn't the beginning of the next major change for us all?

I think that it is entirely up to the moderators, i think if this gets unhealthy it will be removed.
I think as well that they are happy for a healthy debate to go on for a certain period of time.
I never got along with Pavel, but he is a smart & intelligent bloke and will make the choice that best serves his role as moderator.
Esp. as nothing major on Israel has been leaked as of yet.

Its important to point out whats an opinion and whats a fact!
Wikileaks is a website very relevant cause its revealing news about the world, right in a time where the Mayans predicted that the mask of those in power would fall.
Coincidence?!?! I dont belive in such thing, I belive it has come for a change in our time. But like has being discussed here it can lead to drastic actions.
Lets hope that doesnt happend!

We can't really judge the super-duper documents about space aliens, Masons and 9/11 yet - when those get published then we'll see. We can judge only what has been released. And for anybody who stopped believing in Santa and magic pixie dust there is nothing truly shocking there, imo.

First of all – do you really, honestly find this shocking?
And second: we don’t know what’s in the interest of the millions of tax payers, because we do not have all the info to judge that – even with these leaks. They are just a tiny glimpse into a thin layer of the political reality. We still don’t see the whole picture. And most of us never will.
It seems that the most shocking fact released so far is the news that it’s so easy to steal from the State Department. That was a real surprise. Last time I was this surprised was in 1987, when Mathias Rust landed his Cessna on the Red Square.
These leaks so far caused major embarrassment to some political figures, were a spit in the face of the US government, cost at least one person a life in prison, agitated millions of people into thinking, talking and fuming about things they can do nothing about and quite possibly will result in even more secrecy in international affairs. Every effect of this scandal so far is negative. Yeah, somebody with anti-American sentiments can rejoice at how embarrassed the State Department is. That’s about it. I don’t see any positive effects yet. And I doubt there will be any.

You must find Amnesty International a big joke hey?
Why bother to stand up for human rights? Because I believe that people do have those rights and that an extra voice will make a difference.
Seeing as I have friends who work within the government here, and friend who work in law, human rights organisation and journalism I have a pretty clear idea of what's going.
Also seeing as I volunteer for non-profit human right organisations over the last 15 years I do dream of change and a fair world for everyone.
And I feel sorry for ignorant people like you. I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy! |
