Since this is an international trance forum nobody is expected to have a perfect English, however we can note that some terms are especially misused... like wicked killer.

KILLER: One that kills: a disease that was a killer of thousands; a killer of new ideas.

Causing death or destruction: killer floods.

WICKED: Evil by nature and in practice: “this wicked man Hitler, the repository and embodiment of many forms of soul-destroying hatred” (Winston S. Churchill).

Playfully malicious or mischievous: a wicked prank; a critic's wicked wit.
Severe and distressing: a wicked cough; a wicked gash; wicked driving conditions.
Highly offensive; obnoxious: a wicked stench.

Morally bad in principle or practice
___________________________________________

Once again, I would like to manifest my dissatisfaction with the fact that this forum perhaps holds the massiest collection of "KILLER" words on the web. I see killer in almost every post, know people (GIRLS) who dislike Isratrance because of this, because killer has nothing to do with Trance. Maybe it's time for trying to change this matter...

Of course the term has other meanings and it's use once in a while is just nice. These Slang meanings might be positive, in fact, I don't believe that the people who post such thing have 'bad' intentions, it's just the fact that this word is extremely associated with bad meanings and experiences that concerns me and leads me to a sort of 'bad' vibe. This also happens because many stupid people write it over and over causing an inflation on it's controversial popularity.

I'm not trying to form public opinion here, people have the choice to express themselves however they want so here are some possible synonyms:

wicked synonyms:
barbarous, callous, compassionless, cruel, cutthroat, fierce, gratuitous, grim, hard, hard-hearted, harsh, hatchet job, heartless, implacable, inexorable, inhumane, iron-fisted, killer instinct, mean machine, mortal, pitiless, relentless, ruthless, severe, unappeasable, uncalled-for, unfeeling, unflinching, unforgiving, unmerciful, unpitying, unrelenting, unsparing, unsympathetic, unyielding, wanton

analgesic, anesthetic, antiodontalgic, pain pill, pain reliever, sedative, tranquilizer

or

virtuous synonyms:
acceptable, ace, admirable, agreeable, bad, bully, capital, choice, commendable, congenial, crack, deluxe, excellent, exceptional, favorable, first-class, first-rate, gnarly, gratifying, great, honorable, marvelous, neato, nice, pleasing, positive, precious, prime, rad, recherché, reputable, satisfactory, satisfying, select, shipshape, sound, spanking, splendid, sterling, stupendous, super, superb, supereminent, superexcellent, superior, tip-top, valuable, welcome, wonderful, worthy.

C'mon People put a little more effort in what you are writing, we don't want to sound like stupid people, do we?

Killer post!!!
(I had to be the first one to make this joke!)

I don' t like this anymore than you, my friend, but obviously people use this words in as metaphors... And unfortunately to use them is already an habit... People don't even notice they use it so frequently...
IMHO if we really want to see a change, we must give the example, like you just did.

Respect!          .
...Be gentle with the earth...
...Dance like nobody's watching...
.
...I don't mind not going to Heaven, as long as they've got Coffee in Hell...

Could also edit posts containing the word "killer" and substituting it for another expression, what do People think? At least it would be funny... having something like 'ANTIODONTALGIC' or simply 'FINICKING' ... maybe this is a good form of changing habits, we could use the CAPS LOCK function to expose the changes... (not very right, i guess)

LoL...

Good Point

But you also have to realise that a majority people on this forum are 17 - 18 year olds. Maybe even younger.

Everyone went through the slang phase

I hate those words too...'Killer' especially.
but I really think this might be a futile effort.

You have my signature for the petition though

I appreciate the feedback... But, I don't believe so... and there's no way of verifying, I just think age should not be an issue in this case because even 12 year olds can have good vocabulary. And also because everyone here should be treated equally.           cna't find it

Maybe we should ask the Mods to go through all the posts and replace "Killer" with "Jolly Good"

@IT. Well, the word "killer" is actually one of the reasons the Top10 section shut down. That's really all that anyone said there when they saw the word 'Unrl'

So you're right. It is a big deal!

What can we do about it though?? I doubt we can get any 'Killer' supporters to reply to this post.

Just sit back and let this phase pass. You cant really impose good vocabulary on people can you?

Nice point. The only thing that bothers me, as full_on already posted is the habit of saying 'killer' in almost every party comment or judgemental post. Killer is very boring and lack in creativity today, imo... It's like an old hit, thing of the past!           cna't find it

um maybe all the cool trance dudes were trying to get down with their brutha's in the ghetto...but they fucked up....instead of Killah they ended up saying killer... anyways i dont advocate the phrase at all , i think it is retarded ...(as i have said before in another post)

so.......

maybe all 1000 or so of use should be able to come up with a really cool(but not killer) replacement word....like....

for e.g

owns

used in the following ways...

"that song totally owns"
or
"the song owns"
or
"that tune OWNS ALL"
or
"the dj played an OWNAGE set"

^^ this here is just an example....

ummmmmmm

OWNS

represent~~

I agree I.T.
THIS IS A KILLER POST!!!!
heheee...Sarcasm apart,i have never used this term & I hate it and as you well said it has nothing to do with our trance scene.

Like once I bought this CD from Psyhop (which I'm not mentioning the name) and it had the usual DANCEFLOOR KILLER included in the review. It was a danfloor killer indeed cause noone would dance to it if you play it.That is when i Started hating that Term.

& Wicked sounds very housy to me.

Those soundwaves are killers! whatch your ears guys!

i agree that its not a good word for positive music,
i never use it when i comment tracks...

but look at this,

"That track is going to kill the dance floors, people will dance like mad zombies"

Instead of killer tune one could say,

Nice tune, good tune, Smart Tune, Sad tune, happy tune, dreamy tune..

its better when people explain their emotions about a track...

Im also tierd of the term killer...

IT> If you think that a use of a certain word means lack of creativity, maybe it's because it comes to describe something which is not very original.
