and alien project

avoidance of cliches makes for better writing. there is no need for A "ban" on these words. the use words like "killer" or "wicked" only reveals either a lack of expressive ability in the writer possibly due to language deficiency or a lack of real excitement in the thing being described. killer tracl vs that track seriously redefined my previous ideas on the capability of full on music to blow my head into oblivion. in addition i think the ubiquitous use of the word killer with regard to trance music attends to one of the music's distinctive qualities: utter intensity. The bass heavy full on music to wich the word killer usually relates is distinctively abrasive(in a good way) on the mind and body. hmmm

Why stop there, why use "Full On" it's not even a word. You can just as well call it "VB bassline, Tweaking sounds and a cool sample"...
"Psychedelic": it has already been argued that allot of the ppl that use this term don't know it's meaning, so stop using it and use words that you do know their meaning!

my point....
GET A LIFE!

most of you already mentioned that this might be due to the fact that allot of the users here are not native english speaker. so give them a break, ah?
and if you're realy bothered about get a diploma and go teach english where ppl want to learn english... ahh, what about that?

you got me snowflake caught up in my own criticism....i never claimed to not use the word killer. ppl use cliches all the time in their speech and words they dont know. my point is that they are less expressive and less interesting. full on is a good example of the way in which a blanket word has blurred the lines of productive communication between ppl about the said "style" of music.

yes these words may not make sense to use because of their definitions by dictionary, but if used in context, "that track is killer," then people will know what you are talking about. granted "killer" to describe every track lacks imagination and thought...but what can you ask for, some people just lack the vocabulary to better describe a track; or maybe they are just lazy. haha           ----------

What the hell is wrong with using the word wicked? It is a widely used term in today's English language to describe something that is really good. If using 'wicked' denotes a lack of imaginations, would not that also mean using 'really good' or 'great' also do the same?

Its just a word, for those who critisise using it, get over yourself.

but if everything is described as killer or wicked then the term becomes generic. if someone tells you a track is killer, that tells you nothing. what about it is killer? the drums? the melody? i mean come on...

KILLLAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!

i agree. this is perhaps not the greatest and most discriptive way of describing a tune. although it usually means...

1)its by skazi
2)its unreleased
3)its bpm is 145 or above.
4)its "full on"

am i wrong so far?

The only person I know that says killer & wicked is a stoned white kid who went to Ridgemont High!

My two cents, the words came from movies like that. One day some lame hollywood producer thought it was hip to put that type of sterotypical dialouge in thier script. (Surfer kid from the sunny coast of California) Then movies like "Fast times at Ridgemont High" or "Bill and Teds excellent Adventure" become super popular to young kids who grow up and say Killer or EXCELLENT! and wa la its all over the world. If you have not seen those films you should! Im sure you can find a million other words that a sun burnt surfer kid would say after ripping a bodacious wave!

Whaaaaaat? I've never seen Psy people make an effort to be politically correct. So what if a track is a killer? I like dark, agressive music. If my tracks had a color they would be red on black. I am not a violent person at all, but I think a lot of psy people's obsession with "positive vibes" just goes to show that they are afraid of the dark. KillerKillerKiller. So what? I don't hurt people and I won't even eat a cheeseburger because of what happens to the cows. Am I full of negative vibes? Nonsense.

"Killaaarrrr!" just says to me the person saying it doesnt have the vocabulary to give a half-decent description. it means nothing. except that they think its good. and probably full on.

You can't knock 'wicked', it's a word I've used since I was kid, among other words such as cool, ace and sound.
Killer is a new buzz word which I believe is only used to describe full on. I used to hate it, because it sounded sad, geeky and childish.
However now I've found I've let it slip a couple of times when I'm describing 'strong' music - much to my own annoyance. It is catchy, and I can see it spreading..
