Most of the latest compilation were released
had real old tracks in them
i mean tracks that were made monthes before
sometimes even closer to a year
for example if im looking at the upcoming
zoo2 comp. and israliens 4
i see tracks that are around for monthes now
(most of them) , why not putting newer stuff on the cds?
cds will be alot more attractive for buy i think no?

P.S im not sure this is the right section to put this thread on.
feel free to move it where you thing it belongs to. thxxxxx ;p           I'm The Superviz'a Can I Get The Taxi Numbah?!

i guess it is all about the $
artists prefer selling older tracks to get more cash from their music
that is my opinion
i will never do it if i will be an artist

since the track was made till its getting released and i have tonz of other examples

and why do i have a strang feeling that youre disrespecting me?

more often than not, it takes months ANYWAYZ for a track to get from artist to label to CD... It can be a year, trading around the place before a label even hears it... relax... if it was more than a year old, sure, complain... if not CHILL...

... not all people are so connected that they get fresh unreleased for breakfast each day of the week.

and how fast do expect artists to thrash out killer tunes?, do you wish to sacrifice quality? I don't think so

If a track is good it doesnt matter when it is going to get released.
Repsycle Music for example has signed some tracks for a month now and they are going to be released on March, that makes us at least 4months old tracks. If nobody owns these tracks this makes them old?
You think that you can sign lets say a GMS track today and release it next week?
COmpilations need time to be prepared people

Some of the tracks has been released on 12" only, a good way to reach out is to put them licensed on a comp....

its preaty easy to collect 9 tracks in a week.
to master it, print it and ship it all over.

but to make a good compilation... it takes time ppl

just be patience and stop chasing after the newst trax.
concentrate on the music.           if you want to be rich, u`ve got to be a bitch!

rippa, u have to remember that when artist makes a track, first thing ( usually ) in his head is to play it to as many ppl as he can... if he makes a track, and the track is good, there is more reason not to release it for a while, bcuz from the moment it is released ( even tho i do not believe in that personally ) it's kinda 'burned' for playing 1-2 months after and we ( artists ) want to keep the impact of our stuff on the floor for a while b4 it comes out to public           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

Good music doesn't get old.
And as Yossi said if you don't want compilations to sound like shit, you need to give time to the labels to collect good music, and that's the reason that it can take time.

But actually Rippa, I find your post very wierd- where did you get the notion that a track stops being a good track after 6 months or 12 months and is not good for release?
the last FSOL album took 5 years to make- so what, the older tracks there are less good?
please explain...           ---------------------------------------------

what i meant is that artists sell their tracks more than one time, i mean double releasing , i dont like it.....
about the time, i agree with Shahar, good music doesnt get old....

what's bad are released tracks that are rereleased
example, in Inca:Nations by tip.world they released Scientific Reality
it has been released 2 times before!

Tracks getting released 2 or 3 times is ok... You must remember that people can't buy (or even download) ALL of the releases.

FSOL = Future Sound of London? I think..
