i post this cause was reading some intresting stuff, whats the point of keeping the low in mono today? there is none if it sound great with stereo information .

it open a lot of artistical and production experimentation

think a long kick in the center and the bass in stereo , ,less overlap ,might be fun..

been thinking bout this myself recently....

M/S processing the kick and bass to interweave the frequency ,,,,,,,,

hollow out the mono part of the bass and shoehorn the kick in the gap           Â°Â°Â°ACTS 4:12°°°°

wirakocha i didnt give it a try yet it was just some though, we don t have to worry about keeping low mono from a technical perspective today . but centered sound are more " powerfull" but there is probably some nice tricks to do.. maybe during breaks to start with it could be surprising

was thinking to this too, probably some good stuff to do .
or lowering the center of the bass in volume and hp it so it dont cause problem with kick tail

If you want your low freq rhythm section (K+B) to be equallly present anywhere on a dancefloor, they'll do best when recorded mono, won't they?

it will be best in mono but in stereo it can be good too i think but more tricky , if it sound good in the studio in stereo and when switched in mono just to be sure, there is no reason it dont sound good on a pa system.

switch in mono just to check phase problem .

it make me think to something, it s possible ro revert the phase of one side of a wet fx signal, so in mono the wet signal cancell and the bassline will be mono and dry .. and in stereo it will be wide if it s wet enough.
but not much point if it s for a standart kick bass to make it stereo, it need to be used artisticaly to give something different , it open some room for experimentation
think a glide that start mono and get wide dunno, but there is some stuff to try

really doubt the low stick in mono for ever but it s already very tricky to get it good in mono so in stereo..

I wouldn't advise putting the lowest freqs in stereo this will certainly impact on the mix of the lows, BUT I would suggest splitting the bass freqs and send those below 200hz into mono and then experimenting with with sending higher bass frequencies into the sides, more practical option.           https://soundcloud.com/pro-gram-0

many producer create a normal bass, cut the mids and create another layer with distortion, delays, flanger, chorus, phaser or whatever in the stereo field. so its keeps the lowend mono and the mid high splitted. actually, if you wanna do the sub or bass low in stereo information, go for it. but its not give too much sense of direction in theory and sub occupy too much space in the mix, so if you have too much elements, its gonna be muddy imo.In a break or whatever you can do everything with the sub. Furthermore, many masters cut the low end in the sides, if you did something crazy with the sub and its sounds good, hit him up to doest cut.
just my cents
