turntables are hardley ever used in trance partys?
i mean, i see a lot of reviews about ep's coming out, and there are many that didnt come out on cd's, yet i almost never encountered a tt in an open air.
on the other hand when you go to a techno rave, you will NEVER see a cdj.
personnaly i love tt's, actually thats all i have at the moment (big mistake, i know, im working on it).
my best guess is that techno needs much faster mixing techniques which are easier to perform with tt's, but thats just my guess, wanted to get a second opinion on that.

I think it might have something to do with the weather. Dust and heat dont go well with vinyls. There is the chance of them melting in extreme heat.
Don't forget that CD's are much more convinient 2. They hold more music, they are smaller, you can burn your own mixes and leave the originals at home. Plus they are cheaper and not all the music comes out on vinyl!
I am sure that records have some advantages also but I will leave that to somebody else.           Both teams played hard

Ya, I've heard vinyl warping in the heat as I danced...or was that my mind??? Ha!

But, seriously, I think Apocalypse is right. If the heat doesn't do in your records, it might do you in as you haul your crates of vinyl to some remote party site!

vinyls are a thing of the past.
well now few dudes will come and say but it sounds so much better bla bla bla....

Well vinyl`s sound best when they are first put out of the package, then gradually the sound quality goes down. CD`s never go from 192 to 128kbps. Thats why a lot of dj`s use cd`s. Psytrance, the sound is the life.
At an outdoor party dust and heat can kill the vinyl.
This is especially for psy trance but, for some reason the mastering on vinyl is terrible sometimes(havent encountered that with other genres of music). Thats why it is safer to buy cd`s.
there for at psy parties you see no tt`s, lately.
Oh yeh, plus the mp3 phenemenon

The answer is much easier ... Be realistic ... What do you need to get CD burned ? Computer and CD burner ... While you can not get vinyls without buying them or building a small factory at home ... Reality is tough !!!

Well, in short - comfortable to walk around with, very sturdy, no quality degredation, the artists can burn you their music at home, not press a vinyl, and last but not least - it's just cheaper. If you want 500 albums, there is a huge difference.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

i saw vinyl used in a trance party, a really dusty outdoor party.
it's more convinient to use cdj in an outdoor but the real reason that most trance dj's usually don't use TT is because most of them just don't know how (not all) and i respect you all trance dj's but at techno they usually have better technique too, and thats because of working with vinyl .

i definetley agree with leon, ive been to too many trance partys (i know they werent the right ones) where the dj just didnt have the first idea about mixing, beatmatching, or anything, his idea of djing was to put the right tracks, which is also important, but theres more to it. techno partys - never, the techno dj is much more artistic and free and thats why he is more skillful.
and stas, i know your right but hope your wrong, im not an artist, but i have way to much respect for them to go out and play something (outside, not at home) i didnt buy, and i know its not the case, but i hope all dj's have the same moral as me.

you are correct here,
BUT and a big BUT it is...
when the dj makes too many mixing mistakes it can take you down from the hi you are in.

its not about that ron, not about looking at the techniques,
a. its about listening to it
b. its about the dj, its way more interesting and chalanging for him.
c. its about making your mark as a dj on the music you play, by choosing how to mix it, and into what.

Ron I don't agree with you at all....
Mixing is a huge part of being a DJ. A good set (for me) is one that builds up slowly and gradually and not just throwing out the latest hits for people to dance to. Mixing between two tracks is really important, its kind of like a bridge you cross from track to track. I also really like when DJ's put a nice beat "underneath" that challenges you to follow and translate it yourself.           Both teams played hard

well...
i had that argue some days ago in other forum...
well..
yes.. its not fun to hear mixing mistakes...
but... if a dj make a great mixing.. it doesn't mean that he's a good dj, all it mean is that he is a good mixer...
when im in a party i prefer to hear good music and some mixing mistakes than to hear bad music with perfect mixing..
well.. i appreciate the dj by his set and how he build the set and not by how he mixed it...
yes.. if he would mix it good than he would be a better dj.. but the mixing is the little part of dj'ing IMO..

that's it..
