i'd like to point out something to organisers out there.
me and my friends have been partying for a few years, some more some less, and like a lot of people here in isratrance we have seen changes at parties, i'd like to ask you people about these changes and why have they become like this?
first is the deco problem at parties, for about a year if not more, i haven't seen one party with a decent decoration, ranging from magnificent longies to ultra violet constructions to other stuff which i'll be touching later. the last party i can recall with a decent deco was compost's alice in wonderland party, and those were in a club, not outdoors, where are those decos in outdoor parties, nature is great to look at, but we need some more stimulations.
second thing is people, and the organisers themselves not trying to make the party look a little more differant, namely, costumes like, again, compost's costumes for alice and the mad hatter... and of course dummies of aliens, snowhite and the seven dwarves (gabi and the twins) or whatever. and it's not just the organisers, a girlfriend of a friend of mine just stated to us that she doesn't like parties anymore cause people don't dress psychedelically to the parties anymore, she remembered a time when she came to parties with fake elf ears on, and clothes from like a D&D fantasy, why don't we see these things no more? where has the trippy imagination of people gone?
i have to say these things affect me most at parties, they contribute so much to a party, especially at night, and alas, they have been neglected in all their forms in a long long time.
let me know what you think, and well, if anyone knows where i can get nice well made costumes somewhere in israel let me know (and i mean now, not at purim), me and my friends'll be waiting to try them           Super-teen extraordinaire Freakazoid! Freakazoid!

Yo Freeka, I think we're getting old.
Yes, once there was magic in parties. It was different. Today whether you go to a techno party or a trance party, ppl are dressed more or less the same.
But things change with time. We had the pleasure of seeing the beauty of parties. Today trance (in Israel at least) has become mainstream. Just state another country where you have around 8 underground outdoors every week-end? I believe we're the only one. Today it's "IN" to go to a trance party. But with mainstream there goes individuality.

yeah... great topic and Q

the costum issue bothers me too.
nowdays if i come to a party with something different (devil horns, huge clown hat.. etc etc) ppl just look @ me like im crazy or something.

this thing was a big part of a party and sould be.
ppl stoped gettin wild in parties... everything is just totaly regular.
sure there r exceptional events, but we r talking in general.

all the freak shows got underground i guess or just disappeared.

The influence of the Techno scene in both the Psy sound and in the parties is more and more obvious, and not only in Israel.

I am under the impression that "Goa freaks" (i.e. the neo-Hippie attitude of the early scene) are an endangered species. Much more regular clubbers in parties today.

What about other countries ?

I think there's a big difference between countries where Psy Trance has been there for a while (mainly Europe and Israel), and new territories (like South America). As for Japan, it's another story...

Some experiences ?

and what should me and others who party for 7+ years say ?? that parties that u call "amazing" and "unique" allready looked like a shit to my opinion ?? that parties 3 years before not so different from todays parties ?? that ppl dont dress psy clothes allready for a loooong time ??
i have those pics where i go with "paranoia" sunglasses, "freaky mushroom pants" and "ohm" t-shrt haha.. my fav clothes then were "marks in space" hehe, good fluero shit.. and cyberdog when i got a bit more money
life is dynamic thing, if u dont get into dynamics u will be pushed outside, its phisical law.
and question - why will not u dress this things, why will not u make its looks psychedelic ?? or its others that should do it ??

I don't know about you, but I don't want ANYONE to tell me what to wear at a party. Your love for the music has nothing to do with the clothes you wear.

It's fine with all kinds of people in funny/freaky/psychedelic outfits, because I love to see some diversity on the dancefloor. All ages, races, heights etc - it's the music that matters.

I really symphatized with this topic...

And I feel the same way you do freakazoid. I myself have lived through intense character-like fantasies at festivals and I say it's an amazing, life-changing experience. First time I had acid, many characters were "broken up" in my head and I still meet those characters when I take lsd. To sumarize, there is the athlete, the farmer, the nut-head and me! All in one...

I think that the catalyst to this experiences were driven by the power of immagination. Parties are supposed to be the place where you let you immagination dominate. I have played the cripled, the indian, the farmer, the bird and many other "fantasies" all by myself and, through these fantasies, i find refuge in trance and i love it and FEEL it as something really precious and unique. Especially for always being alone and carpe(ing) my own diem, if you know what i mean...

I will not say that i miss those things because I'm the one responsible for making them happen. You know, the magic... i think most of you guys know about this magic. Wonderland!

I hope one day we could all meet to put in practice such things. I have many ideas of what to do to... And i think it's worth doing it no matter if others say you are crazy or dumb. The thing is that you can be anything you wish... if you decide do call yourself Bob Sponge and act like him you can... and you will only answer people if they call you like that! haeihaeihaeihaiuhaeih... what a trip..... dont think that i'm crazy! i am...

very well said...

I say the old times will be back when people stop thinking too much and free themselves again... The other day I found a puzzle on trance, how people behave with the time and the influence of the music. The magic fades away as people think they figured out what trance is and starts expecting and hoping for things to happen... no spontaneity, well i dont know... (stonned!)

Best wishes

I think this fits here... C'mon now lets all open some doors!

Raver's Manifesto

Our emotional state of choice is Ecstasy.
Our nourishment of choice is Love.
Our addiction of choice is technology.
Our religion of choice is music.
Our currency of choice is knowledge.
Our politics of choice is none.
Our society of choice is utopian though we know it will never be.
You may hate us.
You may dismiss us.
You may misunderstand us.
You may be unaware of our existence.
We can only hope you do not care to judge us,
because we would never judge you.
We are not criminals.
We are not disillusioned.
We are not drug addicts.
We are not naive children.
We are one massive, global, tribal village that transcends man-made law, physical geography, and time itself.
We are The Massive.
One Massive.

We were first drawn by the sound.
From far away, the thunderous, muffled, echoing beat was comparable to a mother's heart soothing a child in her womb of concrete, steel, and electrical wiring.
We were drawn back into this womb, and there, in the heat, dampness, and darkness of it, we came to accept that we are all equal.
Not only to the darkness, and to ourselves, but to the very music slamming into us and passing through our souls: we are all equal.
And somewhere around 35Hz we could feel the hand of God at our backs, pushing us forward, pushing us to push ourselves to strengthen our minds, our bodies, and our spirits.
Pushing us to turn to the person beside us to join hands and uplift them by sharing the uncontrollable joy we felt from creating this magical bubble that can, for one evening, protect us from the horrors, atrocities, and pollution of the outside world.
It is in that very instant, with these initial realizations that each of us was truly born.

We continue to pack our bodies into clubs, or warehouses, or buildings you've abandoned and left for naught,
and we bring life to them for one night.
Strong, throbbing, vibrant life in it's purest, most intense, most hedonistic form.
In these makeshift spaces, we seek to shed ourselves of the burden of uncertainty for a future you have been unable to stabilize and secure for us.
We seek to relinquish our inhibitions, and free ourselves from the shackles and restraints you've put on us for your own peace of mind.
We seek to re-write the programming that you have tried to indoctrinate us with since the moment we were born. Programming that tells us to hate, that tells us to judge, that tells us to stuff ourselves into the nearest and most convenient pigeon hole possible.
Programming that even tells us to climb ladders for you, jump through hoops, and run through mazes and on hamster wheels. Programming that tells us to eat from the shiny silver spoon you are trying to feed us with,
instead of nourish ourselves with our own capable hands. Programming that tells us to close our minds, instead of open them.

Until the sun rises to burn our eyes by revealing the distopian reality of a world you've created for us, we dance fiercely with our brothers and sisters in celebration of our life, of our culture, and of the values we believe in: Peace, Love, Freedom, Tolerance, Unity, Harmony, Expression, Responsibility and Respect.

Our enemy of choice is ignorance.
Our weapon of choice is information.
Our crime of choice is breaking and challenging whatever laws you feel you need to put in place to stop us from celebrating our existence.
But know that while you may shut down any given party,
on any given night,
in any given city,
in any given country or continent on this beautiful planet, you can never shut down the entire party.
You don't have access to that switch,
no matter what you may think.
The music will never stop.
The heartbeat will never fade.
The party will never end.

I am a raver,
and this is my manifesto.

(Anonymous)

By the way, i think the topic of this post is mistaken. It's not that parties are lame. People are lame, the magic is fading away... WE are lame, we should pass on the good things we experienced and people are not doing that.           cna't find it

Although i understand what you are saying, here are some thoughts...

I'm sure parties were a lot better in the ol' goa days, but you have to reckon that maybe you've been to too many parties. Maybe what was in the beggining a novelty, is just every weekend's routine. Maybe you are getting bored because of that... parties just are not the same, after so many years and being in so many.

After getting tired of both house and techno, I started going to trance parties about a year and a half ago. I fell in love immediately... such an intense experience!

So i started going every weekend to a trance party... until it became routine. So after 6 or 7 months, i decided to stop and go to a party once every 2 months, once a month max.

And now i don't feel the same, every trance party is a novelty to me.

It only took a few months to get me bored, maybe some people take longer... (or maybe this has nothing to do with your situation, but i felt like writing)

well, i think some of you here misinterpreted me, i did not mean this thread as a "damn, parties are not what they used to be, where are the good old days" thread, not about trance becoming mainstream or anything, we've covered that more than enough here in the forum. i was pointing out something which i think could be made better, by individual people, and not by changing the whole crowd, because that is impossible.
my first message was to the organisers that somehow think there is no need for color anymore, no need to catch your eye when you walk into a party at night and suddenly see a purple fluorescent forest clearing.
my second one is to all of us here, and zombie, you are right as hell, i guess i need to change too, and that's why i put that last question in and i still ask, anyone know where i can get nice costumes. a horny hat will do to some, but that's not my style, each can do it in his own way, this far i guess i didn't do much myself (except by putting a fluorescent alien on my shirt ).
shrom, you sure look like a spiritual man, very nice manifesto we should hang it at the entrance to parties like the prayer of the road
and again, zombie, i'm sure you've seen even better days than i have, and i know you can't get those days back, well, at least some things can be brought back, but just don't because of laziness, greed or just no cares.           Super-teen extraordinaire Freakazoid! Freakazoid!
