nectarios, it's nice to know you appreciate parties, but unfortunately though i love going to them, and it's like the only beacon of light in my otherwise kinda boring life, there are things nowadays to it that are just not fun like they used to be.
quote: "Who cares about fluorescent aliens/costumes and elf ears? Are you serious? get real!"
well, i care about all these things, i care about them a lot, and no, i don't wanna get real, that's the whole reason for trance parties to me, that they are not club parties of "the real world" but are escapes to your imgination, and seeing good deco makes my imagination run faster and keener (and i don't use hallucinogenics, if i did, i'd want that even more i think), so i appreciate a cool forest and a glorious sunrise, but ocular stimulation throughout the whole party party is what i wanna see, either by watching nice girls, cool people, good mind bogling deco or dancing maniacs some i get, some i don't and i want to. and if you think that seeing people really get into the mood of a party isn't important then i guess you go to parties for other reasons than i do.
and believe me i love the music and i oft times get totally lost in it without other simulation, sometimes i don't, and then i smoke some more and that's when music together with color makes a brilliant mish-mash
and about the underground stuff, well, as i said, if you wanna talk about that, you'll find about 20 threads about that.
oh, and im sorry about the thread name, should've written something a bit more appropriate.          Super-teen extraordinaire Freakazoid! Freakazoid!

nectarious,
I don't understand, you disagree with the fact that parties are much much less colorfull nowadays?

I mean, It's a rather obvious fact that shouldn't even be in question - any party today - VERY rare to see a colorfull one. Makes me feel very clublike -like it's another weekend we going to a club to dance. Of course im not talking about the fluff music that played in the background which just maximizes the clublike feeling

Very simple question : are you both attending the same parties ? Maybe parties are very different in the locations you're used to going. Just wondering...

I guess I feel a little bit different from the original post in regards to the deco and costumes.

As far as the decorations are concerned, I got a little tired of *always* seeing the bright fluoro deco. It gets old to me after many years, IMO. Don't get me wrong...I do like a well-decorated party, but I like different than the normal "goa" deco.

One thing I like to see in decorations is beauty in simplicity. I like color-themed deco. Our deco guy did mostly white decorations at one party we had awhile back. The color scheme was extremely simple (white with black lights), but the shapes, textures, and surfaces were outstanding and made it one of the best deco jobs I have seen. No colorful fluoro pieces, but it was extremely cool.

I have really wanted to do a red-themed party....red lighting, red-based decorations, etc. It is only one color, but so much can be done with it. And to me, something like that would have just as great of an effect as super-colorful fluoro decos.

For the costumes, it does not matter to me in the least. I have been going to psy parties for 6.5 years and I have never worn more than jeans and a simple shirt. I probably look like I belong more at a rock concert. But what other people wear (or don't wear) doesn't matter a bit to me. I certainly don't mind seeing a bizarre costume and sometimes it will make me chuckle, but whether or not it is there does not affect my enjoyment of the party.

I will agree that I don't regularly have as much fun at parties as I used to, but for me that has more to do with the music. There is no variety anymore!! I don't like arriving to the party at midnight and by 4am there has been no variation in the music. I don't want to hear the same sounds for the entire evening. A great variety exists in psy, but many organizers and DJs seem to ignore it too much now and focus on only one style. But that is an entirely different topic alltogether. :)

Well I might be hated for saying this but, If you are looking for new parties you should come to Japan. There is always something new, new people, new music, all the new hight tech sound systems and Visual Equipment.
Take VisionQuest parties they do something with their Surround Sound Party. Stargate with their FUNKTION ONE super crisp best sound you can get party. Trance Proggresion with 360 degree Active VJ system, where you just have graphics on the roof, wall, floor everywhere Its like your in a computer.
G-moloch has their deco team, making a mystical outdoor party with mystical Decos all over the place.
Well this is Japan right now. Since people dont come just for the artists now, all the organizations are looking for a new way to appeal to the crowd that they have something new.
For me i try to look for the old school goa type parties which are really comfortable for me. Sorry to say this like im bragging. But its the situation of Japan, and the way i see it by doing this the scene just becomes more and more commercial. Ruining the once mystical underground scene.

I see positive and negative sides as well... Hope one day I get to be in those high tech parties. But I'll wait till they have something new, who knows, something like water-frequency control in such a way that all the molecules in our body move up and down, round and round...
till then, I'm better as a "farmer"           cna't find it

well, nectarious, i've been to samothraki, and that's not what i'm talking about, of course festivals will be amazing! and big parties are almost always something well made, but i don't know about you, here we have parties every weekend, and because of that, it seems producers no longer try much to make their production something to remember. and from what i see you writing, parties you go to have good deco, so i don't think you really know what i'm talking about.
krelm, when i mean deco, i don't mean just the "original" goa stuff, i mean any deco at all, really, anything that'll catch the eye.
and last, about people, well, i just said i'd like to see some nice stuff around, but krelm you're right as hell, i enjoy very much just seeing people wear happy faces, it makes my own mood rise a lot.
oh, one more thing, don't worry nectarious, all of us here in israel, although we bitch and moan from time to time, we're all party junkies, and believe me we're junkies because of one reason: we like these parties! but there's always room for improvement.           Super-teen extraordinaire Freakazoid!
