Nik, cheers is fine, though grazi might come more naturally no? Or perhaps ciao? I'm in Japan by the way, summer is rockin' here & people are actually happy to pay for parties, so there are plenty

unlike in Australia, where nobody wants to pay for anything so the promoters are continually out of pocket. In the decade or so I've been involved in trance culture in Australia, I've scene ONE, that's right *1* promoter repeatedly come out in front. The rest have ups & downs.. to be honest most are down & downs

so OK, perhaps I went a little far with the hippy bashing, but the people who go to these parties are "hippies" for the most part, they say they love art but then they complain when they have to pay for it. That really fucking shits me, OK?!? Seriously, who should be paying for these parties, the people who are having a great fucking time, or the people who are working their arses off to make them happen?

if you can't answer that question, do not reply to this post, because that's what this rather off-topic little discussion all comes down to

i see a majority of morning and electro funk or "weird" (wateva u guys call it , it sux)artist play in festivals and gigs than the few dark artist.
for example rainbow had very few dark artist this time and people were really wanting more of dat stuff while the cheezy stuff was on all the time.....

<snip>

the last dark artist was electrypnose . Guys try to bring in some Disco Valley Records boys here in .....the likes of Theo, Dark Elf , Double Trouble, and i would love some bhooteshwara guys too Blisargon Demogorgon and others.... hook it up man enuff of the boring cheezy stuff.....

no, you're not coming in between at all...

funny you mention Rainbow by the way, they're the one exception I was talking about above, prob'ly cause they cater to what the people want, which I'm not sure is quite the way you say it is, their continuing success being evidence of that. To answer your question, maybe Australians like fun, happy music because they're generally happy?

lots of unconditional love to you all           new Hadal Drop album on the way

Japan has serious support for 'dark' music, and i wouldn't call them an unhappy bunch (been to some wicked parties there..)

Anyhow just LOL@ this going for 7 pages now. Now here's hoping the thread dies.           Twisted Mind-Altering Night-time Psychedelia...

Wat was just a simple question.... turns into bashing of some sorts. Although i feel the language used cld be more dignified. Why so much negativity?

Getting back to the topic, Oz has some real awesome night time projects like Dark Nebula, Pondscum, Hefty Output.... how come these guys dont play around much? And wheres Legohead these days?

I've heard a great deal abt good vibes at the Oz parties.... not much on the music side. Although i wld love to come one day and experience this and drop some tunes.

Cheers!

Legohead, pondscum, and the hefties will be at my house party this weekend if you want to come

wooo probably wont be playing psy though

you ever ridden the Tokyo trains during the morning rush hour? Case closed. Don't base your perceptions of the people here on what they're like at parties. That's when they let it all out           new Hadal Drop album on the way

thats nice way to put it.. Here also same.. and these "hippies" are mostly from rich families who can afford to pay.
For them to pay for psy party is like loosing their value in the scene.. last party we were charging 150 rupees (1.5 euro) approx $3 aus just to pay for the sound system.. even then .. they were refusing to pay.. and later we made it free and we paid for every thing..
I thought that was problem only in Nepal but looks like it is global.           https://soundcloud.com/aseem-2

That's really bad to hear ... most people don't get into doof without paying in Australia. It happens, but mostly we are tough on the excuses given at the gate.. no money no entry. People don't like to pay.. but they do pay.

I agree that good psychedelic music requires no substances, it's a trip in itself.           Twisted Mind-Altering Night-time Psychedelia...

yeah i agree to that fact, its more of a commercial scene than somethin really underground.. any way somehow i managed to go to a bush doof my satisfied thirst for the great tunes i longed for.. hopefully people keep on sending the word out for good doofs.. and i'll b happy to hang around .. but yeh the sydney gigs are a bit cheesy mostly           I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.

Hang on, don't dump the average ESP/D'Psyfa events music which mostly cater for the Oxford St/commercial scene as being what all Sydney events have. REGEN/ixchel's parties (to name but two) have some good proper psychedelic music and are not 'cheesy' gigs, also if you go to Newcastle gigs not far from Sydney, they are anything but cheesy, so be careful before you jump so hastily into such false generalisations.
