You're in a vocabulary mood at the moment traveller

I guess it was used since the beginning to qualify a powerful dance track. The question is, when was it applied as a Psy subgenre ?

Expressions like "a real full-on album" "Just kickin, full on, pumping trance" can be found in 1996 reviews.

Then you had the compilation "Full on" released by Hom-mega in November 1997. Maybe that's the start for the subgenre, just guessing...

I guess mike is right there , but the real fullon formula of the last few years i think Astrix invented (in the first alien project album). lets say end of 2000 start of 2001.
GMS has some part of it ofcourse , thier style from 2000+ not the older stuff , i guess since the nitzhotnot style died.

Etnica released Starship 101 with the b-side 'Full On' in 1995. Koxbox released 'Fuel on' that same year. I'm fairly certain the term was already in use by then.

It's true that the term "Full On" was already known around 1994-95. But you can' really compare it to today's Full On music. Very few artists made that fast music (143-147) with so many layers of sounds. It was not before mid 1997 and early 1998 that Full On started to kick off for real.

Thanx (or should I say no thanx...LOL) to mainly the Israli acts, which I am sure I don't have to mention here, Full On became more popular and "grew" out of Israel.

as i know
full on is the exactly opposite than minimal..

in minimal only few sounds play at the same time..
in full-on lots of sounds and effects at the same time.          http://www.o-zen.com/art/ranal

what are you talkin' about? imo full on and minimal are pretty much the same thing.. only real difference is the bpm which tends to be higher in full on..

both full on and minimal are really quite umm.. minimal.. no real melodies.. no real variation.. just repeative drums and repeative basslines.. and umm.. cheesy samples..

slow down 156bpm full on track to 100bpm and it sounds exactly like any minimal track

do the opposite to any minimal track and it sounds exactly like any gms track...

hell buy gms album and play it with half the tempo.. it might be the best minimal album you will ever own.. and twice as long..          "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."
