I've been slowly slowly saving $, it'll still take a while but I am in the process of looking for the most versatile Moog, one which is good for bass (at least bass for sampling, great leads, fx...), really thinking between little phatty, sub phatty and minitaur, as I can't really spend more than $ 1000.

Please no get this software plugin instead, Moog sux ass or Clavia and virus are better replies, Moog is what I want!!! Period!

Thanx!

If I didn't have the SlimP and the MiniT and had to choose one Moog synth, it would definitely be the SubP.

Damn Nectarios, that was fast, even for you considering we are talking Moog lol

I am also leaning to the sub... lets see if anyone else says anything           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

the prodigy fits your price range too:

i can vouch for it. you have to give up on some of the features these new ones have as its built over 30 years ago BUT you get a truly wonderful sounding vintage synth instead.

(+ i'm not going to buy new moog products anymore. that 24 karat gold coated moog voyager limited edition was too much. bob wouldn't have approved that one. i'd rather support mfb, macbeth or any other smaller manufacturer from now on...)

I was of the same opinion and had a rant about it on the Moog forum, then some people talked some sense. There are far more expensive anniversary edition guitars on the market and it has been so for years.

I also was of the opinion that I would never buy a new Moog product, but I would be lying if I said that I was not waiting for a Sub Phatty rack.
The new Moogs sound brilliant and the MIDI implementation provides for things that far outweigh the vintage ones, even if they do sound "vintage".

Not that I would not grab an old Moog synth if the price was right.

But to be honest, take what I say knowing that I am a gear slut who is lucky enough to get gigs that pay for new gear.

upavas was asking for 2nd and 3rd opinions so i gave him one. and it's still prrrecious moog
i think it's no excuse to milk the cow saying "everybody else is doing it too". there was absolutely no need for that golden voyager. it was a sign of ridiculously poor taste, greed and lack of good judgement. but that's just my opinion and y'all can do whatever you want, mmkay?

I did not mean anything negative, it is your opinion and it is a valid one, in both counts.

from the one that sell new there is not much reason to hesitate..definetly the sub is their best sounding one IMO

but i would go micromac cause more for the money (you get a minimoog architecture and more)

the boomstar moog seems to be really good to me too from the sample and i could see myself pikcing this other a moog synth, cause again you get way more for the cash

would need to try in real to make a opinion but thse 3 i would think off..choice would be more easy if sub had cv io

and the sub with cv will probably come out..it s almsot sure..and you will be fucked with your sub you bought from europe cause it will cost you a fortune to send it back to moog for the cv io mod..

SubP (and MiniT) has VCO phase re-trigger. Extremely important for psybass. Also there is an AU/VST software editor where you will be able to save the whole channel strip and recall whenever you want. On top of that LFO goes in the khz region and can track the keyboard.

Sub Phatty all the way. Upavas, when you are in town this weekend just head down to Control Voltage - they have a voyager, a sub phatty, a little phatty, a minitaur all set up on the floor to try out

The hard sync and the bass on the Sub Phatty sound so.fucking.nice even on the rinkydink headphones on the shop floor.

I also asked the shop owner about a rackmount Sub Phatty and he said that they probably won't be coming out with one...or at least not for a while...and he had just come back from official moog training in asheville

I also vote for SubPhatty .

I personally was in the same situation 2 months ago but decided to go for Slim Phatty . I personally Love the sound of both but prefer the Slim a little bit more sound wise , but I wish it had more features like the Sub Phatty .

I wish they will do a rack version of the Sub , other wise I dont think I'll get another Moog soon ( Looking for A4 )

a slim + a ms20 for example would offer more to your tunes , phatty and sub can do great bass leads and fx but these are kinda limited as one and only synth to cover everything..
