The recent sphongle gig had couple entry only.. its really surprising to see this happen. My condolences for those who weren't allowed to enter as stags and returned back without experiencing the shpongle set. Must have been really dissapointing.

I don't know many girls in the psy scene, and wont possibly find someone to enter with the next time this happens. What is the point of keeping it couple entry. .? can someone throw some light on the advantages of keeping couple entry only?

Welcome to the global nightclub scene. Glad I didn't make it out to the show... was planning to show up with a bunch of german dudes... but they might have ended up letting us in seeing white skin. this is just how it is, i'm surprised you're surprised.

We have to really fight with management when we do events in clubs to avoid this being enforced... but in big places with big identities like Elevate you can just forget about it.... or achieve celeb status like our man Dogon

the only advantage i can think of is depending on where the party is happening and who the invites have gone out to is to ensure that the 'special elite invitees' dont feel out of place with it being a sausage fest. other than that surely its not a win situation for the club and the hardcore party goers.

where was the party btw?           missing plug-in

the scene was at Aura's in mumbai, and elevate.

and since when did psy parties become pro special elite invitees?

It seems to me that the mentality is that if the person enters as a stag there are more chances of him getting drunk, stoned or being on other drugs or whatever else is undesirable in such places - which is kinda sad because i know a lot of people just like me who like to simply sip on a pint of beer and stand in a corner without being a bother to a single soul in the party. Ok there will be more girls in the party, which is nice in a way.. but there are always enough in these club scenes.. its never really a sausage fest afaik.. of all the club scenes i have attended.. even with single entry i have found more than just a 'few' women around to prevent it from being a cock party!

Nice sentiment Sri......but i wont totally totally condemn the"couple entry free" policy......its pretty simple achully.....get a girl and get in free....for the shpongle gig my entry was sorted since i had a friend to give me company....but then things got complicated once i got the kults in d afternoon.... I nevertheless reached der with my other couple friends who managed to get in......I did try but for the time dat i was der i didnt come across ne single girl as well looking for some1 to enter with....So in d end its my mess...i wont blame d clubs policy totally..............

BUT

My objection is :clubs think that couples are self controlling and self restraining (ie couples are less likely to fcuk it up)..... with this logic it is "couple entry free"....ie if a REAL couple enter chances of chaos later is much lesser......

THEN

why the hell would dey allow single guys and girls(who r strangers to each other....like wat i ws planin to do outside Aurus) to just hook up with each other just for entry purposes....and all dis happens in front of the entrance in d presence of the security or bouncers etc.....so in such an eventuality, who is to say that"couple entry free" policy will achieve the main objective of the club ie. crowd control n mgmt... when couples just enter together and in d party r in deir own zone...
it doesnt make sense....the entire purpose of the policy is defeated and the end result is not achieved...in d end u still have d stags enterin in der...

This is my problem....have couples entry free....but ensure that it is atleast REAL (or seemingly real) couple entry free.....

i know dat the above para is not feasible or logical ....but atleast then charge a stag entry.....dat is defintely practical...

But as yidam has said ...this policy is now a global phenomenon.....END RESULT : u gotto have plenty of chickita friends to save ur butt in such situations !!hehehe           ----- Hippies...they wanna save the earth....but all they ever do is smoke pot ----

yeah man. i get what you are saying.
I completely know that the couple entry system is in place to keep the vibe in the place healthy, prevent unnecessary conflicts especially inflicted usually by the 'stags' once they are drunk! This is good. i would want this system in place when im going out clubbing with a girl for all good reasons.

But again, look at the audience that would turn out for a psytrance event - do you really think the stags here are cheap and would usually end up creating a scene? in this case to keep the crowd creamy why dont they simply increase the entry for stags. I somehow feel, that making it a couple entry only sends the 'clubby' vibes - like decking up, partying hard, types the experience is no longer only about the music.
In my opinion clubs usually have these entry systems -
a) Couple entry only - no stags allowed (usually on sat nights when these places get over packed.
b) Couple entry only - girls entry free. and stags get charged double entry for not being accompanied by a women. and women can anyway enter for free (?)
c) the usual psy scenes where couple / stag you pay per head.

Now im not entirely sure if this is the system around the world. But the fact that you don't allow stags would only prevent 'single or stag' guys from meeting more women in a way. If the above system where couple entry, girls entry free and stags pay a ransom.. atleast there are more chances that you’ll find someone to dance with, to talk over a drink, and to have fun.           Nothing is said that has not been said before.

Hmmm, your probably a decent guy so I feel bad for you. But, from the organizers point of view they probably had enough business despite not allowing stags (who one would expect to rake in the most money). Not to make sweeping generalizations, but 'stag' entries have been known to create huge problems; fights, hounding women, sloshed and falling all over the place. From that perspective I'm sure you understand it wasn't personal. It might be wiser to be sure of event policies before attending. Cheers mate

Er, just for the record, me & phat boy were given a capsule lift to ourselves on our way up and welcomed to Elevate with the words, "Sooo good to see y'all, Sirs!".

Suffice it to say, we were a lil' taken aback ourselves!

I ain't gay, but my advice to y'all would be to get back in touch with your feminine sides and more importantly, be a lil' less thrifty!

How about good security? Haven't been to elevate for more than a year now but the security has always been good. The men in black are subtle and prompt!           'The meek aint gonna inherit shit'

okay so after talking to some friends, the lowdown on the elevate gig is that the couple policy wasn't strictly enforced.

what's really needed is a good door manager who knows how to filter a crowd. that or keep it open and have bouncers to deal with unruly elements. a little more dicy in the latter case.

all in all, it's still a club scene. don't enjoy it too much personally but to keep things going here in India you have to succumb to the commercial mentality at some point.

Just spun some dub and chill in a public park out here and it was such a refreshing change! more genuine appreciation came from people who could never think of or afford to enter a club. that's what it's about at the end... free music for free people.
