It's not the lifting of old tracks that's necessarily bad, it's how it's done.

The 'Voodoo People' remix is a good example of how to do it well.

You need to start with a good track. You can spray glitter on a turd and it might make it look nice but it's still gonna smell like a turd!           "One nation under a groove".

Of course guitars can be psychedelic (David Gilmour and Hendrix for example).
...and sitars? don't know much about it but i love Ravi Shankar and Zakir Hussein (tablas master) and they can be very psychedelic.

It's not the guitar which is psychedelic,- or not, but the artist using it in that ot not that way.

hmmmm good point PRAECOX and energy.... it is up to the artist to use what is available and to use it tastefully... thats the problem, most of it isnt...tasteful that is, in my opinion that is..

I personally like some tracks with guitar riffs, like Skazi's XTC & S.U.N Project's Looking for You.

I never really liked guitar music (metal & rock bands), since I always loved electronic music, but I think you do get some good psy trance tracks with guitar riffs.

You also get a lot of psy trance tracks out there with non-psychedelic sounds in it, but it's still considered psy trance, which sounds good & people respond very good to it on the dance floors.

I suppose it all comes down to personal taste & preference as everybody's differs

It's all preference.

Since, I've been listening to trance, they've used guitars. I think they're awesome and go so well together when used right. My first guitar track and I still love it, is Sundog (John Ford) - Touch the Sun. Great track.

The use of Sitars can even be better.

While I don't know a lot about the scene in other countries, I think this terrible guitar riff phenomenon may be related to making money in Japan. Parties here, especially the big ones, often seem way too much like a rock concert. People religiously face the performer, groupies push for position along the stage-front barrier (once I even saw a group of girls synchronously and repeatedly shout "We love you Avi" while Space Cat played!), the artist's name is displayed on huge video screens while lights, lasers, and fog complete the hype. Hordes of clueless kids shout "age age" (pronounced Ah-gay, ah-gay) suggesting they're high and want to get higher with you. Then a rockin guitar riff strikes and everyone flies, arms in the air, screaming.

Parties here are expensive to go to and very well attended. Further, I think many people in Japan actually still buy original CDs. Psy Trance is seriously big business in Japan and the crowds do respond to those unfortunate riffs.

I almost cried the first time I heard Space Cat's "Metalizer" at a party. The first minute or so was so amazing - I love those sounds! Then came the rockin guitar and everyone went wild. I had to go chill out. Ha! That track was definitely designed with Japan in mind.
