What was the best year for psy-trance/goa? Was there a best year? I think 1996 was the best year.
Prana “Cyclone”
Transwave “Phototropic”
Etnica “Alien Protein”
Total Eclipse “Violent Relaxation”
I think all of those are classic albums that I still will be listening to in twenty years. My second favorite year was 2003.
Protoculture “Refractions”
Cosma “Nonstop”
Younger Brother “A Flock of Bleeps”
Penta “Pentafiles”
Star-X “Prepare to Fly”
Again, I think these albums have something special and I will be listening to these albums for many years to come. What does everyone else think and why?

Read my mind, huh?
I also think that 1996 and 2003 have been the best years so far. It'll be really interesting to see whether 2004 continues where 2003 left..

What about 1997?
Hallucinogen - The Lone Deranger
Koxbox - Dragontales
Green Nuns of the Revolution - Rock Bitch Mafia
Psychopod - Headlines EP
Juno Reactor - Bible of Dreams
Prana - Geomantik
... also some classic albums by MFG, Deviant Electronics, Deedrah, Pleiadians, SUN Project, Tandu and more.

1997 for... well, better check the album reviews section for that year on Psynews, half of it is made of masterpieces, would be a bit pointless to copy-paste !

2002, the year that everything started to change
logic bomb - unlimited
gms - no rules
skazi - storm
but anyways this is pretty subjective isnt it?
i noticed that a lot of people complaining about how bad times are now and how good were before usually are just getting older. the "coolness" of an era is directly proportional to the age of the user, of course that things change, but no so much.

2000.
Why? That's when i really "found" out Trance with Astral's Another World album.
But seriously 95' to 97' should be the best trance years, when it was fresh and new.

Younger Brother, Shulman & Ott are not trance.
I think 95-97 was the best as said before because then there were no formulas, many different ideas and so on.

I do agree 1997 is also a great year, probably my third favorite. Why is Younger Brother not trance? Also, a couple people said 1995 without explaining why. Can you explain?

Another vote for 1997...Cause my all-time top 3 (psy)albums are all from 1997:
1. Hallucinogen-Lone deranger
2. Pleiadians-IFO
3. Juno Reactor-Bible of Dreams |

best years were 1999-2001, when all the minimal prog thing started, that was cool.
And filter, your theory about age is completely right!!

I think 1999 is when it all started to get real bad
and filter, your theory about the age is not right imho. what yo describe is something you grow out of with age - this is not the case.
