well..
we are refering to partys and how to make the best of it for the ppl (lats call them the "tribe" )and not for one guy.
the topic is not about what is best for
the writer..
its about how to make the party and the order and selection in the line up beter for the "tribe" and not for one person.. |

im with huda here... i do get your point faxi and at most times i would agree with you - but then huda has a stronger point here with the learning experience, and while for me to listen to electro/minimal house on a trance party might totally ruin my experience - i prefer to give it a shot and try digging to it rather than taking my ass and leave - i think that indigo festival 2 weeks ago proved this point - as i never was a suomi/prog fan, let alone would i thought of listening to younger brother/shpongle in a trance party and enjoying it - but i discovered different ways to enjoy such music and i was able to connect to all of the music which was played there - and that was a VERY diversified lineup...
so to sum it all up - give everything a shot - u may actually come to like it |

one way to look et it is to ask yourself
if u hed to choose.. then what whold u prefer?
good music.. or good ppl??
|
|
i really dont understand why having the same line
of music means you have bad peaple? why not enjoy good music AND good peaple?
i come to a party for three things- peaple music and nature. this means fun to me.

i gave myself as an example, its not about one person, its about creating an event for a crowd and pleasing that crowd, not trying to "educate". with all due respect, i hate when djs try to educate me, but really end up playing endless sets of music i don't dig, and yes, this leads me straight to the car and home. people listen to this music for many years now, i don't need to give something a shot, that i have given it dozens of shots before. if i know i don't like fullon, then its because of dozens of uninspiaring (to me) fullon sets(just an example), not cause i am narrow minded, has nothing to do with it... i am old enough to know what i like and what i don't like
for me its - music, people, nature. music comes first. if music didn't come first i could just as well meet my friends at the beach or some pub.

Huda, I think you over-rate the trance scene!
Especially in this matter...
By saying people are coming to partys for a journy or something else rather then just fun, dance & drugs.
(Im NOT saying there are'nt any people who do so at all!, but most of the crowd is not about "deep" shit... or deep dish?;)
Anyway,
My point from the beginning was more about the "Orgenizers/Productions" and less about the crowd!

he is right
noone has to "suffer"
its like when i used to go to parties before i became a student i'd go only to parties i like most of the lineup and still,i used to miss half on purpose to not "suffer" hehe
its like if i dont like prog or fin music i will not suffer becasue afterwards there's an artist i like...so i am pro homogenic too.

Not to mention that sometimes you pay alot of money
only to enjoy half of the party. that sucks.

actualy combined parties almost never work.. i am all for homogenic parties, one crowd, one vibe, everyone is happy with all the djs and all the music throught the party, much better this way.

+1 to that, i also enjoy the most in a homogenic party, best vibes.

i dont. its lame. boring. and self-congralutatory. mix it up. best of the best. genre loyalty is for cowards. |

nice topic.....a bigg problem here in goa also....
earlier, i remember, in the days when the parties used to be fullpower in the jungles and beaches the music was mixed..10pm-2pm u'd have night forest music..fast hard night after that till 5am..then start the twilight djs..then morning full-on and during the afternoons when it waas too hot maybe a more chilled out or prog project..this was very killer coz u would feel the music along with what time of the day it is..the right music at the right time.. this all ended in 2003
now as of today...the whole scene is become very political..u have dark artists coming here and making parties.. and they mak line up of all dark artists which i feel sounds very funny in the morning when birds are chirping..then we have the others that like only morning,...n their parties are playing fresh cheesy music at 12 midnight when the wolves are howling... this 2 diffrent kind of parties only i think has split the tribe ...
although i prefer dark music myself n i might also listen to it in the morning when im alone at home i would never play it for a crowd in daytime...its all too funny for me..they will never feel the darkness nomatter how dark their souls are... it will still shine in the light..
but ppl have diffrent views today, and goa will never be the same again..listening to the right music at the right time for me can be more spiritual and a journey ....rather that riding the same night train whole day and night..
it boils down to the organisers...which artists they choose and what time they give them to play..
but in a diversified planet like ours i think everyne should be given a chance...
