I thought about putting this in the thread for DJ Ani, but I to make it its own topic because I wasnt sure it would be appropriate for me to post it there.

It's starting to seem like an awful lot of our generation is getting killed in accdents. With our parents generation it was drugs that killed lots of musicians. But with us it's the accidents. Here are a few I can think of:

Kemistry (DnB dj)
Bonky
Cosma
Jhonn Balance (of Coil)
DJ Ani

I feel like we are more careful about drugs these days because of what happened with our parents generation but there are other dangers too that we need to watch out for.

Peace out all.

My answer will be offtopic, but I was so sad after Kemistry's accident, she was so cool and cute.. I show endless respect to Storm for keeping going on the vibration..

I had to see them at a large festival a few days after the accident.. There the whole Drum'n'Bass floor didn't happen, as a sign of mourning..

Now about the topic..

but jhonn balance died from falling off a balcony or something because he was drunk. so that's a drug related death, not an accident (alcohol's a drug).
in fact, many of these accidents are drug related.
we're not more careful with drugs these days - otherwise we would each have a designated driver to drive us home after a party...
i've ridden with ppl who drive while at the same time drinking and smoking bongs as their friends hold the wheel. isn't that horrible?
in fact, i don't think it's much different from dropping some lsd, putting on a superman costume, and jumping off the roof cause u think u can fly... (except with the car, u may end up killing or maiming not only urself).
please ppl, stop saying things like "i drive better or just as good when i'm drunk/stoned".
and remember, seatbelts r ur friend (even in the back seat). if my cousin had worn a seatbelt, we'd have one more great person in the trance scene... :(
please be careful. cars r not a joke (esp. when ur under the influence).

It's not true there is alot to be done , many car accident (esp by young ppl) are a direct outcome of being irresponsible drivers. There are for sure many reasons for car accidents , bad roads , broken cars etc... which may not depend on you, but one thing is sure & depends on you entirely is your behaviour on the road! ppl drive safley & responsibly.           http://www.aero-groove.com

Well...I dont fully agree...I think drugs still has a lot to do with some of these accidents!!

I mean...I think very few liveacts, Dj´s, and other partypeople can tell you they never drove to/from party or festival with someone, who was not in condition to drive legally...maybe the driver is a stressed organizer, been up a couple of days in a row...or just a guy who have been partying hard all festival, and happens to own the car that brought him and his friends to the festival...

I have been driven of wasted people before...even though people try to avoid it, but sometime you hardly have a choice, standing in some ex-festival-field in another country, with no other possibillities..it sucks!!, and it has to go wrong sometimes...

ya can be the best driver but its not up to ya...
some asshole can hit ya or something,
the only thing ya can do is to follow the rulz and drive safe, and if we all do the same we can reduce the number of accidents to a minimum.
common sense i guess :|           --------------------------------------------

Yeah I know its not only musicians that die in accidents. One of my friends died in a freak accident a couple years back so I certainly realize this. I was only listing musicians because we all know who they are, so we can use their deaths to start a discussion.
Anyway, yes drug related accidents are drug deaths, but they are different from overdoses. I feel like people now take more precautions from overdoses (people are more careful about mixing alcohol and sleeping pills after Jimi Hendrix).
However there is still not enough awareness about the dangers of drugged driving, as people here have pointed out. As a scene we really should try to fight the bullshit macho attitudes that people take about their ability to hold their drugs and drive. There should be no shame in refusing to drive because one is fucked up, nor should it be an insult to ask the driver if they are on anything and refuse the ride if they are. Furthermore, it should not be take as an insult to the driver to wear a seatbelt.
Maybe we should take a lesson from all these deaths and try to reduce accidents in the scene.

No its not fuckin off topic. Efforts to keep trance people alive are not off the topic of trance.
Think about it:

Accident happens ----> Awareness about accidents is raised -----> people try to be more careful -----> More trance people live -------> the trance scene is happier

Does this logic not make sense?

And with all due respect this is nothing like bitching about the weather. Weather is a temporary inconvenience. Death is permenant. See the difference Buju?

Check out MC singa- "Why drink and drive if ya can smoke and fly " ...hmmmm

To the topic, I think we all can be a bit more careful when it comes to our life, and more important to the life of the people around us.

I agree with you. I used to work on an ambulance crew and we had a saying... "If you arrive at the scence of a car accident after midnight, and nobody is drunk, look around because someone's missing".
