sorry to be so negative, but i'm tired of getting my NEW CDs in the post, and having broken spindles, broken hinges, poorly-made digipacks, etc..

i just opened my new copy of Converting Vegetarians, and the shitty case broke at one hinge.

it's like everyone has to use a different design, and 90% of them are silly.

i guess it's the same with DVDs... there's like ONE design that works well for cases, but it isn't used by many companies.

silly rabbits.

Anyways, I have tons of extra cd-cases at home so whenever I get one broken I just change it! Plus, I keep my cds on bag-like cd-case...           cna't find it

To me the best design is the slim case, because it's slim and it doesnt brake easy, but the bad side is that it doesnt have space for the booklets and art...           cna't find it

I disagree, they can have booklets.
For example, Space Cat - Beam Me Up had beatiful booklet inside. And it was Digipack.
I agree on the part that todays designs suck.
If you want an example on how a good cover and art should be, you should check Cosmosis' Synergy. It has great digipack design and an opening booklet with info on the tracks and stories behind them.
Today labels just want do a smallest effort to make something beyond the music.
Exellent example is "Hallucinogen in Dub". With no doubt this is a fantastic album but almost no notes or design what so ever. They didn't even printed who mastered the album, is that too much to ask?           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

Hey Mike, here's a pic of a digipack... You know, all Space Tribe, Cosmosis, Tantrance, Goa Head, Pulse, etc are in digipacks...

I hv seen double posts but quadruple

I agree with Pavel...

If labels did a better job in presenting a decent package I believe more pp would buy it...

Cause if u hv only some crappy cover art and the cd u can not compete with burned cds, but if u present a package with lots of art, lot´s of text with artist´s perspective on their work, case insert, a sticker, a fckng hologram... I don´t know... stuff would became collectors itens...

ma 1,5 cent...

"Today labels just want do a smallest effort to make something beyond the music."

yeah, look at the Younger Brother album. very cheap and plain looking. even the color looks cheap. and this is one of the 5 best artist albums this year. i doubt your average "dance music" buyer would be tempted to buy the CD based on the package.

the Elektro Theatre package is cool-looking, but MINE FELL APART IN TWO DAYS. all the glue let go, and the layers of cardboard split.

i'm very carful with my discs, as i've been a vinyl collector for 5 years. but i still need to be able to open them more than once

Mike A and Anakoluth know what's up...

i don't understand why digipacks are so widely used now... they start to deteriorate as soon as you unwrap them.

and i have the same problem with the Wizzy package. i wonder what monkey designed that one??

are digipacks really less expensive for the labels? why else would they use them?

The worst I ever had was the Aerodance CD. The case broke my CD, because the middle was too big for the hole on the CD. I had to order another. I'm glad it was on clearance.
