EDM is a dynamic scene to say the least. What's more, a lot of electronic releases in that particular genre are NET-releases, which mean they can be downloaded for a great deal free of charge as well.

Ambient producers in this scene could learn a thing or two from Introspective for example. Try searching on that one.

And please people, don't lift psytrance to the top of the range in music. There are great accomplishments in numerous genres.

You are not mixing up with IDM by any chance?           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

TA is for mainstream trance... are you really surprised?

Last year I threw a very small Koxbox tribute party, playing all Koxbox all night. I had posted it on TA and for whatever reason (maybe because John 00 sez psy is cool nowadays), a bunch of the TA crowd came out. I remember being harassed several times to "play trance". Once I heard where they had found out about the party it all made sense.

It is a persistant mystery as to why the mainstream trance crowd won't get into the psychedelic side... and as much as it may be a big thing with Wizzy and Astrix getting play from some of the big DJs, you have to look at compilations like Revelations from Digital Oracle as being custom-tailored mainstream trance that just happens to be made by psytrance artists. They aren't digging any deeper. Perhaps they're close-minded and prefer to be herded like sheep into superclubs to hear rock star DJs throw down the same old shit year after year, or maybe that's just their taste in music.

Why an easily digestable and vacuous style of trance music is so popular in North America of all places is an enduring mystery of our time... (too lazy to look up a sarcastic roll-eyed emoticon so just imagine one here)

Is this really an North American thing? I certainly have noticed it. In my city, you can easily find mainstream "trance" every week in a club, but if you want psy it's 10 times a year.

I've swam from the Copper River in Alaska to the St. Lawrence River to the Great Lakes and it seems to be the case all over North America! Should I seek out new spawning grounds in Europe instead?           Kent

Its a very American thing. Especially in the midwest. Not being racist but "EDM" attracts a lot of confused rich white highschool kids. I saw one playing around with Poi in the parking lot yday so I went up to say Hi.
[I was happy to see someone into music other than Country ...I'm in Indiana ]

The conversation lasted for 2 mins. The first minute was him mumbling with a deadpan face and the second was his rambling about how great Deiselboy is. It was pretty apparent that this kind of music was an outlet for him. No emotion involved other than the word "Awesome"

I think I'm def better off with Psy. The high times of Electronic music were the 90s. Ministry Of Sound ruined it for everyone.

hehe sorry lola, after all, you were right

(And maybe some ppl who are into psy have to try learning what's "on the other side" before judging... it's part of what psy culture really is: having an openmind)

But this doean't only apply to the psy culture...it is actually the whole trancy state of mind and mood...we all should b open minded.           GOOD THINGS COME WITH TIME....

Yep. You´re right Pavel. Sorry, my bad.           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."
