And to me it's about Music not religion.

Last. Maybe 2% of the people in our scene know what Indian religion is all about. The rest are just following some cool "hip" trend to be accepted into the "insider" group.

@handA
yes man thats true.
and some people realy try to connect the music with spiritual philosophics (to the music, not to this ***** scene). im my clique i am the only one, they accept it and maybe they smile about it, but thats ok. everyone has to find his own point of view where he feels lucky.

this symbols of hindu goods are just reminders in my opinion, reminders for a little bit more spirituality.
but you are right, i think you mean that:
today the hindu-symbols are like plastic-barby-dolls which look cool with blacklight and the people with frightened brains (click: listen to posford, small paper squares) shake their asses on the 4 hours dancing-trip paying entrance wanting cool deko. thats what i said. they are consumed, not celebrated. today hindu-symbols are just cool nothing more, for most of the people.

the hindu gods are symbols and manifestations of what the indian people see in their land, life, and people of their environment.

early 60's travelling etc. and the beginning of psy culture happened on the same land and space, so naturally there is a connextion.

what the connections are and are not have already been discussed...

though no one has talked about the relationship to OM.

OM is just the vibrational sound representation of the universe. and trance culture is heavily rooted in psych and sound. i think both cultures are using sound as a portal to go into the internal mental cosmos (self), and external cosmos (selfless). because both are one and the same.

there is a phrase in hinduism 'Atmaan is Brahman, Brahma is Atmaan' = 'Self is all, All is self'

the rest is all statues, wall hangings, and chilum chants.           www.facebook.com/DjJanux

great topic guys, keep it up.. im learning a lot.

I also think there is only one true god and we are all connected through it.. this great positive driving force and of course trance is part of it, just as everything else

I think all the religions try to explain this world and the nature of things, some situations, the humans, the evil inside us etc... And everything has its logic and everything goes to the same point, the only real truth in the universe, GOD, who loves us all and just want us to love everyone as well

I do wanted to be a mind open person like Shahar, and im sure that with perseverance and faith in god everyone will get there

I believe one day all people living in this planet will be pacific, its in bibble

No I'm not religious and think organized religion is very outdated.... I believe in being a spiritual person but I think everyone should have their own individual sense of spirituality, what they identify with for themselves instead of following some story made for the masses and altered substantially over its history to cover up its faults.

Anyways the whole trend of objectifying the symbols and mantras in other religions/cultures is kinda sick to me, it should be avoided at any cost. Nothing irks me more than a skinny white hippy boy with dreadlocks preaching "Bom shankar!" and wearing an Aum and not believing in, or being educated about anything he is involving himself in.

I think that the appropriation of Hindi Gods/Symbols by Psy/Goa scene is very offensive (and Im not even hindu!). Goa was a colony for many years and taking Hindu religion and plastering it all over CD covers and events and other commercial ventures is just another form of colonialism. Basically its a move from physical colonialism to spiritual colonialism. It's just like New Agers fucking with store bought medicine wheels and pay-to-get-in sun dances.
The starter of this topic is right, what it has to do with Hinduism is a buch of drugged up kids in Goa having a spiritual experience and running off thinking the a Sadhu or somethin.
I think that we could benefit a lot from incorporating Hindu (and other cultures) ideas of Cosmology and Psychology into European cultures, but it needs to be done in a much more respectful, educated, and culturally sensitive manner.

On the bright side, I see less grotesque abuse of cultural imagary than I used to, so maybe people are waking up, or maybe it was just a fad that passed as Goa set and Psy rose.

1 final thing: i think the use of the Ohm is probably OK because it acutally has something to do with sound, which logically relates to music, so associating the ohm with psy isnt as bad as plastering images of Shiva and Ganesh all over the place!

Aren't we Euro-Amerikanz nice folks? We'll take your land, then we'll make u our slaves, then we'll take the enslaved you and force you to help us steal the resources from your land, and then, finally, when u got nothing else left, we'll take your spirituality just for kicks and put it on display at an all night drug party! Sweet, huh?

well personally, i see this whole issue more like a philosophy than a religion... as long as we don't go into extremes, it doesn't bother me to tell you the truth...

Well IMHO The trance experience is a mystical experience in itself. I do not understand why is it so weird to have varied mystical references and beliefs.

I remember when ppl used to go to Goa in the beginning, many went through a huge spiritual change. SOme ppl became trully religious. IMHO there is nothing dated about religion. It provides a reference point and a dogmatic plan to reach enlightment. You choice is in the path. You can sense oneness and goodness when you are @ a temple, church... it is a very similar feeling to the one we feel @ a trance event.

Damn so many rules and regulations... No this, no that... We will end up with a parlament, a supreme court and a trance police. It sounds like the beginning of Psy Police Trance to me... No music or dancing on the trance jail.

Have any of you read about this religions, the books, the practices, the beliefs, the prayers, the chants... DO you understand what is behind the religion itself?
