1. The artists on the flyer.
2. The proximity (as already stated, it's a big country.)
3. The production crew.
4. The location.
5. The cost of ticket.
6. The type of show (live/dj set).
7. The venue/area.
8. The flyer.           Are you connected to yourself?

Firstly is it outdoors or indoors - because there is a lot of difference.

If the party is indoors then -

1. Artist/DJ or more the 'type' of psytrance being played. Is it going to be dark & twisted, or melodic & groovy...

2. Venue - Very important! Dingy, damp, bad venues can screw up everything! Nicely lit, clean , breatheable venues are a +++

3. Proximity - If its too far then going for just a few hours is hard!

4. Crew - Which also says a lot about what the crowd/environment is going to be like...

5. Cost matters not. Anything for good psytrance.

6. Flyer - who cares!

----------------------------------------------

If the party is outdoors/2-3 day affair -

1. Venue: This becomes the most important by far!!

2. Artist/headliner : You know that if its a 2-3 day party then some music you are going to like and some not! A headliner you like is always a +

3. Crew - Known for good/bad parties?

Hey Junya if you ever come to L.A. then try the corner of Hollywood and Vine...you'll find plenty of what you're looking for there..you might even get a two for one deal.

Hmm, it's very interesting to see how the scene changed over the years.
In good old 1997-99 for a lot of people including me it was like this:

1.- Production crew
2.- Location
3.- Proximity
4.- Artists
5.- Live/Dj set
6.- Cost of the ticket (In good old 1997-99 everybody had money )
7.- Flyer (there were no flyers)

I have to say that for me this priority list is still true most of the time.

We used to go to parties because of the parties, now everyone goes to hear music. It' true, no?

I think you are right Nikita. I would even say that the order of priorities you list all presume that back in the early days, the music in general was always expected to be good. the music was fresh and new and was almost always guaranteed to satisfy.
So that being the case, the number one reason would be the production crew - the people who put on the best overall parties. Next would be how accessible the party was. after that it was who the artist was.

These days people tend to be selective in who they go to see because not all of it appeals to everybody. Is the artist fullon or progressive, fluffy or evil etc. There are a lot of first generation trancers who only go to see the old school artists when they come to town. They don't care so much about the production crew.

It was like this when punk rock was new. In the early days we would go to all the shows, because the music was always good. it was new and exciting. In the later years our tastes became more refined and we only went to see our favorite bands.

I think the trend may begin to revert back to how it was in the old days, as production crews begin to establish a reputation and following. People learn what to expect from certain crews as far as music - which artists the crew tends to bring, and vibe - from the crew and their djs to type of people those crews attract .

I gotta throw something in the mix here, sound system. if i hear the parties got nice sound i am more motivated for sure. I think the crew and location are the top. Clubs just dont do it, trance is meant to be outdoors. I find artist selection relates directly to the type of crowd that comes, therefor i pick artists by crowds they will bring not for their music. It seems that (at least in L.A.) the crew is the determining factor in what type of crowd will show up to the party because regardless of the artist there is always a common core of people who attend certain parties depending on the crew. It really doesn't seem to matter which artist is appearing.

As for the sound system I don't think there is much to choose from here..not that I'm complaining..Network 23 hooks it up pretty well. But sound is definitely an important consideration which could make or break the party.

I agree with Nikita too but since the question was what draws you to a party? then I think the artist/dj is what first catches my attention but it's not the deciding factor in whether or not I go to a party..           Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity...
