everybody has to start from somewhere before they can be good
isnt every dj starts from being a "human jukebox" and gets better from play to play?
not all people has cdj's at his home and it doesnt mean they couldnt be great dj's (and it cost a good amount of money)
playing at parties gives you the best lessons you can get
practice at home is not the exactly the same as the real thing..

There we go!

I'm taking up a loan now just to buy my self some good decks and mixer.
JUST so that I also can be "pro" one day without the ego and with the psy. - And of cource, live my dream. .. music.

you can flight-simulate as long as you want but untill you don't take off on a real airplane you'll never know how does it feel, how to manage the situation in an emergancy or how to exploit the streams.

in fact a humanjukebox is a dj who got to master mixing skills, what he now needs is practice in front of the floor, so he doesn't need to practice home anymore, what he needs is a chence to learn how to read the crowd.

therefore i think is good that they have a chance at the beginning or at the end of the party way that they don't compromise the overall musical trip by beraking the whole thing in the middle of all.

but this applies only to little-medium parties, of course i would also be disappointed of hearing a humanjukebox when i payed 20 euro and traveled 300 km to hear some good sound.

@ phobium : then why this better dj didn't move his ass to help realize it all?????

if it really isn't about the ego why the crowd doesn't put his ego besides and give once, instead of complaining and pretending any given time????

if it really isn't about the ego why this fucking better dj didn't step down from his good dj ego dream and for once sweat and work like the ego-filled humanjuboks, humanjukbx that at the end are humble enough to realize they won't get something coz they are the best-coz of their status, but coz they believe, support and give, and they'll reap what they deserve

and at the end there must be of course some ego in it, by this i mean: i do something coz i like it

if any between you ever orgnized a party knows what i mean, once the meal is ready hundreds of mosquitos are attracted by the smell, mosquitos that didn't show up when it was time to cook!!!!!

sorry for being offensive to ladies maybe but this explains my thought very well:
i shaved the pussy and i don't give give a fuck if your dick is bigger

...and who da cap fit let them weaaar it.....

bye

before a DJ goes to play for other people - whether he put on the party or not, that DJ should know how to transition seamlessly and create a journey. In most genres of music, people spend years in the bedroom learning the technique and collecting musical knowledge before they can go and play for other people. Psytrance should be no different.

It's not about showing off!! It's not about self-gratification. It's about the music, people!!

Well said Dimitry.

Regarding your question Zafer, "then why this better dj didn't move his ass to help realize it all?????".
It's not that simple really. You can't just walk up to the dj playing and say "Hey, you suck. I'll take over from here."

@phobius: you misunderstood me, i mean why the better dj didn't move his ass when it was to build up the party, not during his set obviously, also because a more humble, maybe less skilled, dj is playing instead of him ;-)

@dimitry: since your words you would do any for the music and for having a party, then i also suppose you are between the few ones that at the end of the party help cleaning, right?
but you're wrong it's not only about music if it was only about music you would stay home listening tunes, but you don't you prefer go to a party that actually exists not coz of the 0,000 contribution of the pro dj...

...yes keep on dreaming

bye

in fact, I always help clean up, whether it's my party or not. It just pains me to see cigarette butts in the middle of a beautiful forest or mountains. But just because someone sets up the event and cleans up afterwards, does that mean they should be allowed to play? maybe in the beginning or at the end of the party, yes, but not at the peak time, imo.

maybe it's not ALL about the music, but music is the most important part of it.           ..it's just another party..
