what do you think ? best opening for a party

hello isratrancers ,
for 2 years now i have been playing regularly in our trance party line here at the Luna club in haifa , which is still going very strong.
as a resident i always open before the main artists.
because of the 4\5 hours of full on after me , i always try to play something different and interesting on my sets.
for the last year or so have been playing psychaddelic breakbeat sets - meaning big beat tracks with psy elements (luke chable , BT , that sorta stuff) and sometimes some progressive trance also.
this is being recieved with mixed reactions - sometimes the crowd goes WILD and appreciates it , sometimes the floor is half full untill some 4\4 stuff kicks in.
the goal of course , is to make people have the best time , but also maybe to play something a bit different
the question -
what do you think would be the best opening for a trance party (indoor_), and i dont mean 145 b.p.m madness

hey man cool question !
its like that ,a party whare evher it will be needs to start with a build up set and shuld be hendeld buy a profetional dj bicuse of the importence of an opening set.. i guess it shuld be realy flexibole with styles and sopose to welcome the pepole end eventualy catch the fit and pool them in to the dance flor eny wey breks is an ecselent choice for opening the party but u shuld realy feel the timing of going 4x4 i guess timing is the kee word in opening set and the goal is to build an atmosphare for the next dj to rise it up !
unfurtenetly in ouer scene orgenisers do not realy know the importence of en opening set and in meny cases they give some freind or a new comer to do it and in meny cases it sucks !
en opening set is very very important for the energy to be builed for the next houers of the party and i cen add from my expiriance and tell u that partys that started good ended good!
to sume it up it dusend realy meter if u start with this style or anuther as long as it is flowing and building the energy ,welcoms the croud with a plesent atmosphare and building the energy !

i residenced few clubs in last years and i try to make it as variety as its possible.. once deep and warm prog, once minimal house and techno, once electro and weird shit, once breaks.. most of time all of this together!

well dear "Chaos Theory",when when u are looking for a nighatish party opening music then it depends on how u look et it cuse when u sey that u like only full on in the morning it dus not sey that artist that make prog are emidiatly sutibale for the nighat ! same in full on and in prog some are dark and ghotik and some are open and melodic some sutibolle for morning and some for the nighat..
nighat tuns :sensiant,fine diner,sun control spicias(old stuff),sub machine releses ,tetraktis,midimiliz,triac,older stuff from z.m.a,echotek,pps project,some funf d trecks,triplex,3.turn,juti sidhu (last albom)

im sure if u will put some techtrance 2 the face they will run away from there hehehehe...tech in the luna hehehehe,it will never happen in this full on crap shity partys there....

i did not tallked about the luna club i am tallking in general about partyas.
buy the wey i pleyd et the luna club and i pleyd second my set ws 1/2 progresive and pepole realy liked it and it filed the dance flor in some point i felt they need stronger stuff..so i went stronger but not to strong ,i guess some tims it depends not what u pley but how u do it...

u dont need to do anti movments man just make your oun if u will do it good inughe then it will rull !!! |

Sounds boring to be spinning in the same role all the time...
However, if you were to book me for those surroundings I would do a set which progresses as follows.
First a few chillout tracks, with increasing intensity . 2-3 tracks.
Next progressive house 1/3 of the set
Next progessive psy / psygressive 1/3 of the set
Next Psy Tech Trance 1/3 of the set.
That way, you leave all the full on music to the other DJs, and you build up tension steadily.
When you move into tech trance, your set becomes aggressive - but you wont risk overdoing it, since the next djs style will be full on, and so, he wont have to copy your flow or track selection... You can even mix in a few wizzy noise tracks at the end, they do well mixed with Tech.

Sounds like everybody is stuck with the usual - chillout or progressive.
How about this: Suomi style!
Try some Haltya and see how the crowd reacts. I also open for a club (Wednesday nights) and the crowd comes to hear full on. But when I play it's still early so I play what I want to see what works. I find suomi style is liked by the women. Danceable, funky and fun. Most guys don't like it of course and ask for Astrix but their girlfriends are boogying down to it.
