People from the US: it's not time to start sucking eachother's dicks quite yet

I'd have to go with Murcof. His sound design is unique and very deep. In psytrance... Simon Posford definately has an ear for detail (and creates amazing soundscapes), but I'd have to go with IM, because their soundscapes are probably the ones with the most effort put into them - and that was the question (even if you hate their music, you got to notice the production is controlled down to the tiniest details), not "who is the best".          http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

no need to get jealous kaz.
some of the most innovative and well-produced psytrance is coming out of the US right now.

First - it's a Pulp Fiction quote, not to be taken too seriously. Second - with all due respect, saying that the most innovative and well-produced psytrance is from the US is kinda ignoring a few basic facts like Twisted Records, Spirit Zone, Iboga, etc... It's nice to give compliments to friends, but seriously, Jirah isn't quite in the same league as Son Kite, Infected Mushroom, Domestic, Vibrasphere, the Antidote and quite a few more (gave examples which are not favorite acts of mine) when it comes to sound design and production. Or Infected Mushroom for that matter. Nothing to do with jealousy - music from the US can really kick ass, but production does have absolute values in which other scenes still have an advantage.          http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

lol dude, i wasn't taking your statement very seriously, and you shouldn't take mine so seriously either.

also notice, I said "some of the most innovative music" not "all of the most innovative music" is from the US and when I said that, I surely wasn't talking about Jirah.

more like Onnomon, Fractal Cowboys, Penta, Mubali, Ghreg on Earth, Bodhi 13:20 etc etc.

no hard feelings, ay?

cheers

kaz was quoting the Wolf under stress... while i agree that Onnomon is super creative - i dont think his prodcution level is where it could be and certainly not on the level of those names mentioned by kaz.

question to the people throwing names in the up like hot air balloons... do you actually know anything about manipulating synths, samples, making new sounds? how do u know the people are not using really good eq's samples? what exact knowledge do u actually posses about this subject in relation to the names your stating?
i make music on a very amatuer level... before i did so - i thought the world of some artists. now with each day and with each newly discovered ready made sample cd... i realize i hear alot of those sounds "as is" on tracks without any manipulation. i sometimes have conversations about certain sounds with people who wouldnt know unless they heard that sample before that the sound is not original and not manipulated.

to my american friends - i know you know each other and i know you know your shit... this isnt aimed at you.

In the land where presets and sample cds are king, I personally feel it's become a bit more difficult to achieve unique sound design. There also is a big difference between sound design and production quality. For me what defines sound design is making those wierd f*ed up sounds that you can't really figure out how they were made. I don't really hear that as much as I used to anymore with a lot of the more established artists. There are artists that really do it for me, I dig a lot of Azax's sound design, but considering a lot of Seroxat, Toxic and even some of Psychotic Micro's stuff sounds incredibly similar to Azax, I don't know if he spends the most time on his sound design. The answers that I posted to this question was based completely on watching these guys in the studio.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
