You should post your thanks on the Shibuya 109 bullentin board that way more of YOUR CROWD will be able to see and appreciate your thanks...looked like a rock concert to me, isnt this a trace board? |

haha. too true.... I wasn't there, but (and because) I can visualize the concert way too well. That rock-concert thing seems really exciting for many people, but I just don't get into it. I guess I'm happy for them, though, because they really do seem to be having fun. Must have been quite an event. Lots and lots of power.
Nonetheless, no rock in my trance, thanks.

Thanks for the links to the pics, hoffman angels. Good shots. And they show exactly why I wouldn't have wanted to be there. Lots of energy, but TOTALLY packed, and packed with a lot of people I (unfortunately) don't really want to be near. The quality of the sounds and the sound quality must have been simply unbelievable, though. |

I loooove rock music always will always have...and I might go out on a limb to asume that KAATISU san does tooo....but we just dont like the rock concerts put on under the disquise of trance music..nevertheless I wish only good for VQ. |

Shooo, all these artists mentioned are the ones that according to my "old style" opinion are just destroying trance, and the meaning it once had. No reason the name Skazi makes me shiver and not shake, but vomit...just can't bear the guy or listen to his tracks.
You are right kowens, that's not psy trance, it is what I've been calling Boring Trance. Very boring indeed.
After seeing the VQ 2003 Gathering DVD I promised myself I will NEVER go to any of their events. Better going to see KISS - they will be in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya in June. LOL.

VQ is definitely going to have to reshape their target audience a bit in order to get back some of the members of the psytrance community here that they shunned away by throwing these "shibuya gal" rock concerts..however it is possible for them to realize their misguided direction and to change it for the better..right on goa-ganges, the dvd did kind of turn me off a bit as well. |

Kenji I will not discusss it with you for a simple reason: you are what some guys call a "parachuter",@someone who started hearing or going to trance parties 3 or 4 years ago. So your notion about trance is not complete, it's easy to realize that. I've seem some of your comments that this or that party was "killer" when actually it was not so good. You may even try to catch up with trance history, hearing old tracks. But you didn't live thru it, the goa trance and early psy scene - when it really was killer. Now it isn't, take me for granted. People like me just hang around trance, but do not enjoy it completely - and not because I don't want to, but because trance now is weird.
Mu opinion is that israelis really have their share in the trance history, but they all lost their sensibility. Just listen to Oforia now, it seems two distinct acts, what he made in the 90's and what he is doing now. He was more melodic and had a happier sound back then, now it's just trance, period.
I used to like Infected, but now it's s..t for me. I only just heard his new release: my hearing lasted about 2 minutes and I just forgot it.
Remember I know trance from 1990, I have cd's that now are rare gems. So perhaps I can judge what is good or not in this scene.

OK Before this thread turns into another big fuss, I would like to add my points here.
I think we are talking about a very important topic here about trance. A topic which I am very concerned also and one that have a deep relation with the future of the trance scene.
First of all, I totally agree that some organizations are targeting at totally wrong people. Why? They can suck alot of money off these people and these people even don't realize they are getting ripped off and scammed on. All that they are doing is selling cheap fake trance to poor kids who don't know what trance really is. Probably these kids probably buying expensive cheap fake drugs also. For these organizations thats all what matters to them. They don't care if they are doing lame only money generating fake trance parties. Only if it brings in money for them.
And for the people who really have experineced and have the love of real trance are disgusted and they complain. Like here.
But these organization don't care. They get more money off the Shibuya Gals than us. They are very good customers for them they pay 5000 or 6000 yen for every club events and 10000 to 12000 yen every outdoor rave and they never have a chance to be on the guest list.
Now this is the situation of Japan. Fake trance for sale. Artists making fake trance just to sell without any passion or spirit. That doesn't make me trance, hell no. Marmion Schonenberg made ten years ago does a better job any time. Thats what I call real trance with spirit, trance which put you into trance at any era.
I think people who really know what trance is just have to make their own community. If it was me I will seclude it from the fake scene. But there are not enough people around. Sad bad true.
I have seen some artists realize what they have lost and trying to bring it back. But these artists are only a few who really loves trance and tring to do something about it.

Lets see what they bring after what they say.
Goa Ganges what you have, the trance that was made in 90 to 95 is something special that most people cannot have right now. You should take good care of them because it is true trance which have the power to put people in good quality trance! Pure delerium with happiness and spirit.
I hope more people will realize and regenerate trance as something special again. Now it is nothing but a fake hollow boring money generating ego trip which is a total waste time.
Too much cocaine down the oraganizers nose end up in this. I hope the Shibuya Gals realize this soon and move onto to a another booming scene leave them with nothing.

I read this as there are no small communities that are secluded from the big circus scene. If so, not true my friend! there are amazing people here who love the music and its message, and there are places for them to come together! Its just that they are not promoted, because these parties have less intention of profiting. But they are around. But then again, I'm sure you know this. Hell, we are here talking about it, right?
If this is not what you meant, forget I mentioned it. But if you want to find some nice parties, give me a pm. Lots of nice gatherings coming soon, and I would love to show the magic to those who seek it.
Also Chikyuya is a great family, and they see the spirituality embodied in the music. Check out their parties if you can. The last Gil party was out of this world- psychedelic music at its best.
For me I like real psychedelic music- one that does not make ppl scream and jump like its a Skazi rock concert. (which I think can be fun- just not psychedelic) I like the stuff that puts ppl into deep trances- making ppl twitch and twist into strange positions  This feeling of half fun and half plain weird, is trance at its best. You remember how strange and mysterious your first experience at a trance gathering was?
This is why I doubt that Mind Control will not be much different from the others. I can't say until I see it, but it is the same music with a different cover. I think a simple statement to try change something is not enough- the change must be embodied in the music itself. Commercially oriented fluffy dance club music cannot put ppl into anything more than a screamg frenzy (which I will say again, can be fun). Plus, if I am correct, the organizers are the same ppl who brought out the 3d vision crew to japan. So, I think this will be the same book with a different cover. You need REAL psychedelic music if you want to change the current trend, but unfortunately VERY few DJs and artists play this sound here.
Sorry for the rambling, this is just my perception which may be right or wrong- you can take it or leave it. I don't think one is 'better'than another, just that some things have more personal value for me, and I wanted to share my thoughts. I love the music, and hope from the bottom of my heart that there will continue to be places for us to come together, and dare I say, even grow a bit.

Thanks for your offer. I appreciate your generosity of sharing your connection with me. You have a good soul. That's the kind of spirit that used to be in the trance scene. Trance scene formed by connected high class people who really dig it. That feeling being connected and the confort of being in a part of something special and powerful... That was the beauty... The beauty and art all fxcked up by bunch of assholes who new the beauty of trance but took money instead.
Well Spliff I know Chikyuya throws some good ones. I know Yoji from 10 years ago.
Also I reccomend Trance Cafe, Stargate, Mushi no Ne (run by Batch and GirlFirend)
I've heard from organizer of StarGate that Labyrinth is good too.
Also Sputnik crew in Japan are cool chilled people. Its all up to the people which matters after all. Feel free for PMs anytime |
