I play psytrance in my car most of the time.... occasionally ill play somethin else, but usually its full on /proggy stuff...
I HAVE to play it Loud butnot at a ridiculous noise level..still its loud enuf !!I cant go ahead and listen to it on low for more than a few minutes..
Am i the only one who has this problem?
Coz, its not really allowed in detroit ( probably all over the usa) and they can ticket for shit like that..
I find it better if i hear it loud!! Even at home, its bombs away.
I think it does more justice to the track

iam sure everyone prefers their music loud (home or car) but iam not talking abt obnoxious proportions
i think music in general is supposed to be played at a higher than normal volume its kinda designed that way 
except for some ambient stuff which is supposed to be heard as background music
basically i divide music into 2 categories
1. foreground music
2. and background music
PS i got my mom always complaining abt this

No, you are not the only one. When I listen to psytrance in my car it is turned up pretty loud. I enjoy it when it's loud and I also want other people to hear it as well and ask themselves...what is this stuff? It sounds good! 
Also, besides listening to it loud, when a track gets to its climax or when it speeds up gradually, I drive faster following the track. It's weird but i can't help it. |

Yow ppl, i advice you to try not exagerate in the volume, if you really want to listen music for much more time of course...so if you really like music, try to preserve your ears. (its easy to manage, just imagine your life without music).
The volume is one real problem in the Audio Industry, and because of that some problems are appearing to very young ppl too.
This is much more serious then lot of ppl thing.
And if ppl dont pay attention, the problems come.
Its not only when you are listening music at home or in the car, its the same in partys, its the same in home television...etc...etc...
Thats why i dont like lot of partys and festivals, because lot of them just desrespect the public, with their sound setups and conditions.
Its time to change a bit this situation, and this is a thing to all of us...

i think its impossible to listen to trance quietly. in the study of sound, there is a term/table called "the equal-loudness contour" (my spelling could be off). This means that some frequencies need to be boosted in order to be truly heard in comparison to other sounds. i find this particulary true in the car. i just dont get the full effect when its quieter.
further more, its just better that way.

impossible its not, because i listen to psytrance and other music styles very quietly, and i listen almost everything. (not all all the time of course,sometimes i want to see the results with loud volumes when iam making sound for example, but most of the times i listen music quietly, and one more time i listen everything in my monitors or headphones, even things that i don`t know if you pay attention, like fxs durations like reverbs duration, delays..etc..etc).
Of course if iam listening in some crap super ilinear monitors that don`t reproduces down 50hz, in this case for sure i don`t listen everything...
But it all depends how you educate your own ears.
Some ppl exagerate all the times with volumes, even with headphones, and then of course they cant listen music quietly, and with time the problems come with naturality.
And some other ppl try to be carefully (like me), and so iam sure that iam not gonna fuck my ears with music that i like.

I cannot listen to it at low volume. On a scale of level 1 to 10 , i listen to my music at around level 6, if there is a party at my place the it goes upto 8 but never higher than that.
I rather not listen to psy-trance than listen to it at low volume.

agreed
when i listen to psytrance at very low volume and cant hear anything it only really annoys/teases me, I need the full in-your-face effect, i like it loud, most would call it TOO loud

trance music is transformed when it's loud, for exactly this reason. which is why we like to have parties with large speakers playing said music.

I have listened to some psytrance in some highly highly powered Car sound systems.. (not mine haha)
But NEVER in the city.. Because people can't make a difference between a car making boom boom boom from a distance where Psytrance is being played, and a car making boom boom boom from a distance where Makina or any other Best of Techno volume 18 is being played..
The result is the same hehe, being "heard" as an idiot hahaha  
But as soon as we get outside the city hehe.. Bring the noise.

Usually in the city i never let my car top down.. its too noisey and claustorphobic...
But psytrance has to heard on a freeway or interstate to trully enjoy ear shattering sounds..
