whats so good about them?
why are they better the cds?
and why djs prefers them from cds/mds/dats/ even though that a scratch on vinyl is a damge which cant be fixed..

there is something cool and sexy about using vinyls- a special vibe that you just don't get from other formats. its far more hands on, much nicer to use, and you can scatch as well. they're big and black and so much fun!!

Vinyl also sounds much better and the qualiy is better if they are in good condition.

This is because they are analouge and uncompressed like CD's/MD/or DAT.

Btw DAT is ment to be a Studio mastering format we dont mix on that in the UK !!

i guess you could call it a trend thing, and also, proggress. CD's Are much more durable and portable than vinyls. i prefer vinyls tho, for reason mentioned above by others, and Nostalgy... cant get enough of that black stuff :-)

with Vinyls you are free, you can do what ever you wish to do, and the scratches is even a bonus, a great invention

Well vynils are not that portable. I mean they are huge!
How the f*** am I supposed to go to school with a portable vynil player? I prefer MD... It's much smaller and I don't think you can hear the difference between vynil and MD on shit 5 shekels headphones :-).

So don't go to school, stay at home, and listen to vynils on 3,500 shekels speakers. ;)

But in order to get 3500 shekels I need money, right?
And to get money I need a job, right?
And to get to a job I need education, right?
And to get education I need to go to school, right?
And to go to school I need... uhh... hmmm... No more ideas :-(

Well anyway, I still think they need to make a portable vynil player!
"Sony Vynilman" :-)

vinyl isn't for everyone... its mostly for djs, right?

i truly do think that some tracks sound a lot better on wax... in other cases, they sound worse due to poor pressing. it is a trade off. any way you look at it, vinyl is more precious because it is not easy to copy. finding a rare record is a joy, whereas CDs can be endlessly copied and have no inherent collectable worth. the best DJ setup would be one that includes turntables to take advantage of vinyl's advantages [hands-on factor, warmer bass, sexyness ;)] and a set of CD decks to take advantage of promos, clarity, and stuff that never got pressed over the years [or records you cant find, for that matter].

and if there are any vinyl buyers/traders/sellers out there, give me an email! i am also selling rare stuff, though the price is *NOT* cheap [old t.i.p. (yellow compil, singles #1, einstein EP, etc), green nuns, ux, shakta, beast, symbiosis' FUNK album and more].. i also buy lots.. peace

-----------------------------------------------

what is compressed on CDs and DAT?????!!!!! (I mean if you dont burn MP3 on it....of course)

todays music is digital....and it's recorded on CD or vinyl.....there is no difference IMHO.....

I prefer CDs because of their clear sound....many many vinyls I bought were bad pressed....and it suxxx!!!....and I dont speak about scratches and stuff like that....

but if there is some good EP which I cant get on CD..I buy it........still love mixing from vinyls, because it is "sexy" :-))))

i have never used vinyls but i am sure for one thing, they might be big and not easy to transfer or hear to your school BUT they certainly have the coolest covers i have ever seen and i am sure its nice to  collect them.
